purchase hot -weather goods,
wholesalers reported demand at
record proportions as fall book
ings continued heavier and
earlier than usual, and Industry
held firmly to a record rate of
production, the agency enumer
ated. The over-all improvement in
retail sales over a year ago
reached the lilgiieat for the year
to date, estimates ranging from
IB to 22 per cent. New England
volume was especially heavy,
ranging from 22 to 23 per cent
and In the southwest the Increase
was 20 to 30 per cent. Estimated
increases in other regions were:
East IS to 24, south and middle
west 20 to 23, northwest 12 to
16 and Pacific coast 10 to 23.
In addition to heavy demand
for a variety of goods of a sea
sonal nature, sales of automo
biles and durable household
goods held at record levels, the
review said. Furniture and ap
pliance sales were sharply
ahead.

Mrs. Myrtle Kelsoe passed
away at her home near Agate
school yesterdsy morning. She
had been falling in health for
some little time.
She was born in Yakima
County, Washington, September
30, 1886. Most of her life was
spent in southern Oregon. On
April 30, 1929, she went to
Walla Walla. Wash., and. was
united in marriage to J. W. Kel
soe. They returned to the Rogue
River valley and had lived here
continuously since.
Surviving are her husband
and four children, Claude L.
Edwards, Lewlston, Idaho; Mrs.
Velda C. Biles, Seiad Valley,
Cel.; Verl D. and Lowell C. Ed
wards, both of Medford. There
i also one granddaughter, Dar-
lene Biles; a sister, Mrs. Alta
Stucker, Stockton, Cal., and one
brother, Dall Rogers, Walla
Walla.

3 BURN TQ DEATH
IN LA. APARTMENT
Los Angeles, June 27. (IP)
Two women and a man, burned
almost beyond recognition, died
and three persona were injured
seriously as fire raged through
the 3-rton Arms apartment
early today.
The dead tentatively were
Identified as a Mr. and Mrs.
Goldsberg, also known as Har
ris, and Miss Alma Vosback.
Burned so severely she could
not hold on longer, the woman
identified as Mrs. Goldsbrrg
slipped from a fourth floor win
dow ledge and fell dead as fire
men arrived. The man's body
was found in the Goldsberg
kitchen and the third body In
a fourth floor hallway.
