yesterday to appear in justice
of the peace court Saturday
morning charged with operating
a truck exceeding the PUC de
clared weight. William T. Gris

was cited to appear at the same
time on the same charge.

Lowry, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. B.
Lowry of the South Pacific high
:way, left by train last evening
' for Rochester, N. Y., where he
will join his brother, Wallace,
and motor to various cities and
national parks before returning
to their home here. Wallace
Lowry has completed a year's
work on his doctor's degree in
science at Rochester university
where he was granted a fellow
ship last year. He has held a
straight A average for his work
and the fellowship has been re
newed for the next year. Philip
has just completed a year at
the University of Oregon law
school where he was awarded a
set of law books presented by
Dean Wayne Morse to the top
ranking student in his class. He
also received the Phi Alpha
Delta cash award given annually
to the student who earns the
highest scholarship average in
'his class.

Take Position Ray Erlck-
son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Erickson of 31 Glen Oak Court,
has accepted a position on the
engineering staff of H. J. Brun
nier, structural and consulting
engineering firm of San Fran
cisco. Ray was to have been
graduated from the Heald En
gineering college October 1 but,
having been offered this posi
tion, will now continue his
studies at night to obtain his
engineering degree, he informed
his parents.

bara Dale arrived from Sacra
mento, Cal., by United Mainllner
at noon today. Leaving on the
same plane was E. W. Thomp
son, to Portland. Miss M. Leavitt
arrived from Los Angeles this
morning and E. H. Edgerton de
parted for Portland on the same
plane. C. M. Hurd was a pas
senger from Portland on the
midnight plane. Departing on
the same plane were W. L. Wood
and A. M. Brown, to Oakland,
Cal., and R. Schubert, to San
Francisco. W. E. Haensler left
for Portland on the evening flag-
stop plane. Mrs. F. McCall ar
rived from San Francisco last
evening and R. T. Ure and V.

Active Duty Orders Preston
E. Rohner, who for the past
year has been a Medford CCC
district inspector-instructor, to
day received his extended act
ive duty orders and will depart
June 22. A reserve captain,
Rohner will be stationed at the
new army air corps base at
Pendleton. He will begin his
duty with air corps on June 30
after visiting hi home in
Baker.
