New residents in Medford to
day were Mr. and Mrs. E. B.
"Bud" Serruys, formerly of
Klamath Falls, who have pur
chased the residence at 48 North
Orange street from John and
Elizabeth A. Jones of 709 Alder
street. The property comprises
lot 4 and the 16 23 feet of lot
S, block 1 of the Bungalow addi
tion. Mr. Serruys Is associated with
hit brothers Lou and Bill, both
of Klamath Falls, in the cafe
and related business in Klamath
Falls and cities in Washington.
They also operate Cal-Ore, the
roadhouse near the California
Oregon border south of Klamath
Falls.
Bud Serruys is associated
with A. C. Lelghton in the pur
chase of five Central Point lots
on which it is understood the
two men propose to erect an
apartment house. It is also un
derstood that they have shown
an interest in acquiring other
property in Jackson county.
Lou Serruys is associated
with the interests that recently
purchased the Halley building
on South Central avenue at
Eighth street for a price report
ed to be in the neighborhood
Of $40,000.
Mr. Lelghton is vice president
of the Roxy Ann Investment
company which is negotiating for
Brown's cafe at 101 East Main
street.

session of Day Camp on Bear
creek for girls in the commun
ity between the ages of seven
and 10 was almost double that
of last year officials stated to
day. Forty-one registered yes
terday while attendance for
1940 on the first day was
only 25.
The day was devoted to hand
icrafts and dramatization of
two songs under the following
camp personnel: Mrs. Paul Jan
ney and Miss Helen Bullls,
council members; Miss Bertha
Arnspiger, Mrs. Sylvia Smith.

president of the Lions club at
its weekly dinner-meeting in the
Hotel Medford last night.

Hugh A. Matier, Union Oil
company publicity man, spoke
on the Alaska-to-Argentine nigh
way. Pointing out that the
super-highway in the west coast
states would follow 99, Mr.
Matier spoke of the construction
difficulties to be encountered in
Latin America and Alaska.

Ravazza's Band
At Chateau for
One Night Soon
Carl Ravazza, youthful maes
tro who made "Vienni Su"
famous, brings his orchestra to
the Chateau, Tuesday, June 10,
for a gala one-night stand. Ra
vazza recently completed a
seven-month run In the Persian

room of San Francisco's Hotel
Sit Francis Drake where hi
broadcast nightly over NBC.
Ravazza's tour will take him
to St. Louis, Mo., where he will
play an engagement In the Chase
Hotel. This is his third trans
continental tour.
He began his musical career
at 13, playing a guitar. He had
his first orchestra at 16, debut
ing as a band leader at Alameda.
Calif., high school. He entered
the ranks of name band leaders
at the age of 22 and has con
tinned to gain popular favor
with his broadcasts, recordings
and dance engagements.
A special venire of seven
names was drawn yesterday in
circuit court to provide more
Jurors, due to many on the pre
vious venires being excused
from service.
Those drawn were: L. P.
Older, Frank H. Ray and Rob
ert Gilman, of Medford, and F.
F. Dickey, Carl A. Brower, J.
Samuel Jordan, and Clyde N.
Caton, of Ashland.
It was the second special
venire drawn since the start of
the May term of court.
