EXPANSION NEED
. TOLD PHYSICIANS
More Space, Modernized
Facilities Urged In Report
to Medical Convention
Eueene. SeDt. . WV-A deft
nit need for more space and
modernized facilities at the
atate hospital in Salem wai it
norted today by Dr. C. H. Man-
love, Portland, chairman of the
Oregon itate medical society
committee on medical education
and hospitals.
Dr. Manlove, In hii report to
the iociety, during the 86th an
nual teuton here, laid "an addi
tional building and equipment
for 350 bedf" would be "scarcely
enough to house the existing pa
tient load, to say nothing o the
additional patients who will be
added during the coming years."
The committee's report, pie-
pared after conferring with the
uperintendent of the hospital
and visiting the ground, has
been presented to the house of
delegates of the society. Action
Is expected Saturday when the
report Is returned from the ret
ernce committee
The committee Indicated the
oldest building was "unquestion
ably antiquated" and equipped
with inadequate facilities. ine
other buildings of the hospital
group were noted as well-equipped
and cared lur, but also over
crowded. Besides recommending the
construction of a new unit, the
committee augcested tha addi
tion of two trained psychiatrists
to tiie present staff.

Coincident with the disclosure,
the state department In Wash

The Eagle says tha cutters Co

The Eagle story goes on to say:
Eske Brun, governor of Green

good or bad health and good food is always cheaper than medicine.
