AS DEATH NEARS
Florence, Ariz., Aug. 8 (&)
Robert Burgunder, 23-year-old
killer of two, condemned to die
at dawn tomorrow, dismissed in
terviewers today with a jaunty
Moaufc to "send you fellows a
Christmas card from Heaven."
A romance by mail with a for
mer co-ed sweetheart, politics

tions provided material for Bur
sunder's conversation with re
porters.
But he appeared unconcerned
about his fast approaching date
with death.
Surgeons Remove
5,384 Gallstones
Wilson, N. C. Aug. 8 U.P)
Surgeons removed by actual
count 5,384 gallstones from a
50-year-old Wilson county Ne
gro woman, and she is ex
pected to recover, the doctors
reported today.
It was believed the high
number was a record. The
only similar case found in De
Kosta's "Surgery" recorded a
case in 1924 in which 3.000
gallstones were removed from
a person.
