Television is
the place where
they begin
TELEVISION seems rather
colossal All is not done
with mirrors. Yet you see things
where they "ain't." However
poof! our scientists use tele
vision's activating principle
daily to see things which
aren't visible at all.
By combining certain electri
cal circuits with the cathode ray
oscillograph "mainspring" of
television Standard's scientists
are able to study pressure insidt
combustion chamber or record
as in a slow motion picture the
mechanical lightning which pro
vides Diesel engine ignition.
Now, as you know, it's still
Impossible to buy a television
set at any corner store. Hence
you can imagine how much
more difficult it is for research
ers who start with the television
principle to get apparatus so
far in advance of today. Actu
ally, they've been forced to orig
inate much laboratory equip
ment of their own.
When it comes to devising
gadgets which put them in the
van of the parade, our scientists
have proved themselves out
standing. Some of these instru
ments actually involve the use
of a new electric principle,
about which we can't tell you
yet. But of one thing we can
assure you. Their scientific lead
ership means leadership for
Standard when it comes to get
ting the most inner of inside
information about petroleum
efficiency.
