The room is only IS by 20
feet, and the nearest thing to
an audience are the cooks and
kitchen helpers in the adjoining
room. The storeroom itself is
littered with sacks and cans of
food, but the orchestra has a
contract calling for $550 per
week until September 2, and
none of the eight musicians or
the vocall.it, Linda Lief, wanted
to break it.
From June 20 until last
Saturday the orchestra had
played in the hotel's terrace
garden. When' it arrived for
work Saturday evening it found
another orchestra In Its place.
Arthur C. Steinback, president
of the hotel, said the patrons
liked the new orchestra better.
When Barrow insisted on ful
filling the contract, Michael
Kelly, hotel manager, assigned
the Barrow band to the store
room. For three nights Barrow' or

its new quarters from 6:30 p.
