presented with flowers, also visi
ting Matrons and Patrons. At
the close of the regular meet
ing, a program was given under
the direction of Mrs. Walter
Brown, to which each chapter
contributed a number. After the
program, officers, members and
guests were pleasantly surprised
when announcement was made
that the Worthy Matron of the
local chapter, Mrs. Ralph Lue,
had been appointed Grand Adah
of the Grand chapter of Oregon
which meets in Portland this
month.
Delicious refreshments were
served to the guests at the close
of the evening.

Mary and Martha circle of the
Methodist church were hostesses
to the Ladies' Aid Tuesday after
noon in church parlors.
Opening devotionals were led
by Mrs. Millie Tucker. Busi
ness session followed with Mrs.
Grace Tucker in the chair.
Mrs. B. J. Palmer conducted
the program period, which was
in the nature of a history of
early method ism in Oregon, in
which several ladies partici
pated.
Miss Mary Ann Gates sang
two pleasing numbers, after
which refreshments were served
Mr. Curry Visits
Son in Medford
3. R. Curry of Marlon, Ind.,
is a visitor at the home of his
son, Judge Allen D. Curry, and
his two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor
Hamilton of South Riverside
avenue and Mrs. Harold Vessey
of Benson street.
Mr. Curry returned to Med
ford with Judge Curry, who
had enjoyed a three week:' va
cation in the east. The visitor
plans to sojourn in the valley
for a month.

The Degree of Honor Pro
tective association enjoyed a
lovely evening Thursday when
the Medford lodge entertained
the Klamath Falls lodge with a
dinner served on beautifully
decorated tables at which time
the state president. Sister Cresso
Grubb and 29 other members
from Klamath Falls were
present.
After short lodge meeting
program followed. Sister Rueth
Groves was chairman.
First on the program was a
beautiful piano solo, "The Black
Hawk Waltz." played by Ina
Lucus. The Medford Glee club
followed singing "Santa Lucia."
Next on the program was a char
ter given by Matilda Dietrich
telling how the Medford lodge
105 started. Since Matilda Diet
rich and Leona Walthers were
the only charter members pres
ent they were each presented
with a lovely corsage by Ruetta
Groves; A tap dance was given
by Dorothy Hajy. Mrs. Winkle
bach sang and whistled "There's
a Song in My Heart." John Eads
enchanted the audience with his
magical tricks. After the Med
ford drill team performed Gail
Thompson sang and beautiful
aolo, "Sing Me an Old-Time
Song," followed by three, num
bers played by Adabee's orches
tra. Lucille Seller gave read
ing "Lillian," and Cherokee
Seller sang "Old-Fashioned
Mary."
Visiting and dancing were en
joyed after the program.

charges of using the mails t
defraud and violating the se
curities and exchange act.

McNeil Kennedy charged Dr.
Muchow collected $187,000
from about 200 investors in the
mid-west who wished to put
their money In the Oregon
Chromium-Gold Preorganlzing
Syndicate, also known as the
Oregon Chrome-Gold project.
Kennedy said the literature of
the project claimed the com
panies held 3,000 acres on Sal
mon mountain near Powers,
Ore., whereas the tract actually
was only 1,700 acres in size
and Dr. Muchow lacked a land
patent because the mine was not
worked.
