Public Cooperation Sought
As National Fire Laws
Go Into Effect July 1
T h following recreational
bulletin wai issued today by
Rogue River national forest
headquarters:
"Road and camping condi
tions in the Rogue River na
tional forest are ideal. Shasta
lilies in the higher elevations
and tiger lilies lower down are
especially beautiful now, com
bined with brighter-colored
flowers.
"Fishing continues good In
most of the streams and lakes.
In the upper Rogue river and
Its tributaries, particularly the
upper stretches of Muir, Union,
Foster, Copeland and Mill
creeks, trout are rising best to
grasshoppers and flies, eggs and
worms also being good. Fish
lake Is only fair. At Fourmile
lake good catches of silversldes
are being taken by still fishing
with cluster eggs, a few rain
bow are being taken with buck
tail flies.
Boats Available
"At Hyatt lake boats and sup
plies are available and bass fish
ing Is considerably improved,
particularly with live bait near
the shore. Very few croppies
and catfish are being caught at
Hyat. At Rocky Point on Klam
ath lake, bait fishing Is poor
but trolling for rainbow is
bringing good results. Several
limit catches have been report
ed during the past week at
Seven lakes. The upper moun
Viin streams In that district. In
cluding the south fork of Rogue
river, are also good. The Apple
gate ' river and its tributary
streams are yielding good
catches with benny whipples
and flies. Good catches are also
reported from Squaw lake.
"In the Rogue river outside
the national forest, the summer
run of steelhead has not come
but between Rogue Elk and
Happy Camp a few are rising
to royal coachman. Limit
catches of trout are being taken
on royal coachman and gray
hackle flics In the river near
Trail and Edgewood park, but
the fish are smaller than usual.
The river is at practically mid
summer low level.
Horses For Rent
"The Ashland Loop road has
now been graded and offers de
lightful forest drive, with camp
ing or picnicking facilities at
several points along the route.
At Lake of the Woods saddle
horses are now available for
rent, either by the hour or for
special guided trips to the
Mountain Lake primitive area
and over the Skyline trail.
"Fire laws governing the use
of national forest lands become
effective July 1. The law re
quires permiU for campfires ex
cept in safe stoves or at posted
forest camps. The law prohibits
leaving any fire to burn unat
tended or failure to extinguish
It before leaving. Each camper,
except in posted camps, is re
quired to carry an axe, a shovel
and a watei container. Smoking
while traveling In timber or
brush areas, except on paved or
surfaced highways, is prohib
ited. The cooperation of all for
est users is especially requested
during the coming holiday
week."

a local hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral arrangements were to
be made by Perl's.
OFFICERS RE-ELECTED
The Mcdford city planning
commission, meeting In the city
hall last night, re-elected Ber
nard Roberts, president; O. J.
Gould, vice president, and
Ralph Woodford, secretary, for
the coming year.
Only business transacted by
the commission, other than the
election of officers, was to au
thoriie the construction of a
temporary fruit stand by C. B.
Edwards at 914 North Riverside
avenue.
