Eugene, June 21. (P) Col.
E. V. D. Murphy, who recently
retired as head of th Univer
sity of Oregon R. O. T. C. de
partment, died here Thursday,
ending a life-long career in the
army. He was stricken by a
heart attack last week.
Colonel Murphy, head of the
campus military service from
1934 to 1938, was 65.
He served in the U. S. army
for 40 years, seeing action in
Oaliu, T. H., and Mexico. He
was a Spanish-American war
veteran and served with the
A.E.F. in France.

has been one of my major proj
ects since coming to the senate.
You may be assured that I shall
give full expression to my con
victions in connection with
Bridges' bill and related legis
