Alfred S. V. Carpenter is chair
man. Mrs. E. G. Burgess, in charge
of the knitting and sewing, an

the large number of women de

Deadline for the quota is Sep

Mrs. Carpenter received a let

The letter, signed by Mrs.

reads, in part: "I want to tell
you how enthusiastic we of the
National Volunteer service are
about the magnificent work
which your chapter has been
doing. I wish the members of
your chapter could read the ap

being received here from Eu

are greater than ever before.
Refugees by the hundreds of
thousands are pouring into Eng

except the clothes on their backs.
Each article receives some spec

about 300 are sewing. Due to
the large quota for this county,
a second anoeal has been made
by the committee for more help.
