Corpuscles Charged.
They measured the electrical
charge on the red corpuscles cf
the blood. This charge, they
said, is a negative electrical
potential, averaging in animals
four-thousandths of a volt. Their
experiments showed that the
red corpuscles take on the
charge as a result of the heart
beat.
They doubled the voltage to
eight-thousandths, merely by
speeding up the heart beat with
adrenalin. By many other
means, some mechanical, they
slowed or speeded the heart.
Always ' there was a rise or
fall or electrical potential of
the red cells with the heart
rate.
Dr. Crlle raid this explains
for the first time why all the
body is electrically negative,
while the brain and nervous
system are electrically positive.
The negatively charged red cor
puscles, three trillion In num
ber, travel through 62,000 miles
of capillaries and in so doing
transfers some of their nega
tive charge to the tissues.
Brain Is Positive.
The brain and nerve tissues
meanwhile remain positive be
cause they take up oxygen at
a more rapid rate than any
other body tissues.
The result, said Dr. Crlle, is
a 'different of potential, or
electrical tenrlon, between the
brain and nerves on one side
and the tissues on the other.

Cheese parings and
candle ends...
Those who saved them used to be sneered at as stingy.
But why? Even cheese parings and candle ends have
their uses. And hasn't it always been smart to be
thrifty?
Yes. And that's why you ought to read the advertise
ments. A little money saved here and there can make
a whale of a difference by the end of the year!
So whether you want a dress, or a bathing suit, or

you see. Take your time, and save money. Read the
advertisements in this newspaper. It's just like having
