Talking De Soto
Has Many Tricks
When the fellow next door
narta talking to his car and of
fering it a luscious drink of
high-test gasoline if It will do
lust one trick, don't be too hasty
rbout calling the cops.
He's probably not a psycho
pathic case, but just one of the
many local citizens who were
left slightly dazed after seing
the Talking De Soto go through
its magic repertoire here yes
terday.. .
The car, to all appearances no
different than any other 1S40
De Soto, did everything but snap
candid camera snots of passers
by. It flipped open its hood and
bragged about Its 100 horse
power engine. It opened its
doors and Invited people to get
in and try the nice, wide seats
It winked Its headlights at pret
tv girls, and honked at them
when they giggled.
According to Frank Humph
rey, Da Soto dealer here, the
car's talents can be duplicated
in any De Soto at about five
times the regular price. How
ever, ha feels that the day oi
talking automobiles with self
opening doors and flirtatious
headlights is still around the
comer, and looks upon the Ma
gic De Soto merely as an ecen
trie member of a. distinguished
automobile family.
