Drunks Fined John Enright
of Medford, charged with
drunkenness, was fined $10 in
city court this morning. Paul
S. Stelle of Medford. arrested
by city police on the same
charge, was sentenced to 15
days in city jail. Thomas J. En-
right, also charged with drunk
enness, pleaded not guilty and
his trial was set for late this
afternoon.
Partly Cloudy Weather at
Crater Lake national park was
partly cloudy today, rangers re
ported by short wave radio.
Visibility was said to be good
Depth of snow on the ground
at headquarters building con
tinued at 61 inches, there hav
ing been no new fall during
the night. The snow was classi
fied as "breakable crust." Park
roads were open to travel but
were covered with packed
snow and ice and tire chains
were advised. Lowest tempera
ture during the night was 18
degrees.

Rooms Open Townsend club

the Southern Oregon Travel
bureau addressed a regular
weekly dinner-meeting of the
Lions club at the Hotel Med
ford last night, Mr. Root pre
sented an outline of the activi
ties of the bureau. Other guests

Smoke. No Flra Chemical
crew of the fire department
was called at 8:05 last night
to the home of J. W. Johnson,
200 Florence street. The fire
men found plenty of smoke in
the house but no fire. They
concluded that wind had blown
the smoke escaping through
the chimney back into the
house. The smoke had alarmed
the famfly.
Meeting Tomorrow Rogue

ation will meet in the Free
Methodist church at Tenth and
Ivy streets at 10:30 tomorrow.
The program will last all day
and each person attending is
asked to bring lunch. Talks
described as interesting and im
portant are to be given by a
number of invited speakers.

Suit for $335.20 was filed yes
terday by Bessie Movers against
Monte Leonard and Lura
Lynch, doing business as the
Leonard Beauty college.
The plaintiff alleges she made
arrangements to take a course
at the Leonard Beauty college
last September with the under
standing she would be given
credit for 923 hours served as
a student at the Stevenson Col
lege of Beauty in Sacramento,
The Leonard course, it is set
forth, requires 1,500 hours, with
a tuition of $105 for the full
course. It was agreed, the com
plaint, says, the tuition after de
ducting the California school
time, would be $35, to be com
pleted in three month. She paid
S25, leaving a balance of $10,
The plaintiff asserts that last!
December 28 Leonard advised'
her the deduction would not be
made and that she would have
to take the full 1,500-hour
course before she could obtain
a license to practice In Oregon.
The plaintiff asks for ex
penses, money assertedly lost
from employment, while taking
the beauty course, ana return of
tuition. Attorney Charles
Reames appears as counsel for
plaintiff.
CLARA D. GREGG
RUES SATURDAY
Clara D. W. Gregg, 88, who
passed away at the home of
her son, James R. W. Gregg
at Central Point early Wed
nesday was born at Newport,
Kentucky June 1. 1851. At the
age of 9, she went with her
parents to Ohio where she re
sided until coming to this
county four years ago for the
benefit of her health and to
be with her son.
In June, 1872 she was uni
ted in marriage to Dr. Perry
Gregg who preceded her in
death. For a time they resided
in Cincinnati where they were
married and later moved to
Dayton where she lived the
greater part of her life.
Mrs. Gregg was a member
of the Baptist church and the
D.A.R. at Dayton. Besides her
son here, she leaves another
son. Dr. Walter D, Gregg at
Dayton. Also four grand child
ren, Lucy M. Skeeters, of Med
ford; Percy J. Gregg, Honolulu;
Chas, L. Chillicothe, Ohio, and
Dr. Walter K. Gregg, Dayton,
Also two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be con
ducted by Dr. Sherman L. Di
vine at the Conger chapel at
2 p.m. Saturday. Interment In
the family plot In I. O. O. T.
cemetery.

Spectacular Escapes

captured in Roseville, Calif.

to rob a mail car In Phoenix.
