Ceremony Will Be
Wednesday Event
Dr. Robert W. Sleeter plans to
leave Medford Tuesday lor Ber
keley, Cal., where his marriage
to Miss Pearl Fawcett will be an
event of Wednesday, December
27 in the beautiful Chapel of
The Flowers.
Dr. Sleeter will be accompan
ied south by his mother, Mrs.
Ralston W. Sleeter and his bio
ther Richard who will serve as
best man at the ceremony.
Following a wedding trip the
couple will return to this city to
make their home in Prentice
Court on Dakota avenue.
The bride-elect is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Faw
cett of Valejo, Cal. She Is a
' graduate of the University of
California in Berkeley where
she was affiliated with Alpha
Chi Omega sorority, serving as
president in her senior year. She
has been employed for the past
two and a half years as a medi
cal social service worker at the
Sacramento county hospital.
Dr. Sleeter is a graduate of
the University of Oregon Medi
cal school in Portland and last
year received graduate work at
the University of Pennsylvania
in Philadelphia. . -
A "bachelor dinner" honored
the prospective bridegroom last
week at Valentine's cafe.
Scott Davis' To
Vacation Away
Mr. and Mrs. Scott V. Davis
and daughter left here yester
day morning for Oakland, Cal.,
to spend Christmas with Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Wurts and fam
ily, well known former Medford
residents.
They plan to visit in the Bay
city for a week, after which
they will travel on to Pasadena
to attend the Rose Bowl game
and tournament of Roses New
Year's Day. They will remain
in southern California for a
lengthy sojourn. Their daugh
ter Marilyn will return to Med
ford shortly following Christ
mas. Sweeneys Travel
North for Stay
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sweeney
left Saturday for Portland to
spend the holidays with Mr. and
Mrs. Warren B. Hamlin and
their two-weeks-old son, William
Thomas Hamlin. Mrs. Hamlin
it a daughter of the Sweeneys.
The local couple also will
visit their other daughter, Miss
Mary Martha Sweeney. Mr.
Sweeney plans to return here
Tuesday, while his wife remains

Kenneys Observe
Sixty-First
Wedding Date
Of triple significance are the
Christmas holidays for Mr. and
Mrs. T. J. Kenney, prominent
Medford couple and pioneers of
southern Oregon.
Yesterday Mr. and Mrs. Ken
ney observed their sixty-first
wedding anniversary and the
eighty-fourth birthday of Mr.
Kenney. Tomorrow of course
they will celebrate the Noel.
On December 23, 1878 Miss
Rose Ulrlch became the bride
of T. J. Kenney. The ceremony
took place at the home of the
bride's mother in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Kenney is a native of
Oregon, having resided in Jack
sonville and Medford all of her
life.
The newly weds of sixty-one
years ago, reside here at 812
Bennett avenue with their
daughter, Miss Frances Kenney.

To Dance at Large
Ball, December 30
One of the most prominent
social activities of the holiday
season will be the Elks annual
charity ball to be held in their
temple Saturday night, Decem
ber 30.
Due to the fact that New
Year's eve is on Sunday, the
committee has decided to hold
their dance Saturday night, and
In lieu of the midnight frolic,
special entertainment is being
presented, according to Secre
tary Ernest L. Scott.
Archie Legg's orchestra will
provide the music and the at
tendance will be confined to
Elks and guests admitted only
on Invitation cards which may
be secured from the secretary.
Several cocktail parties are
being arranged In advance of
the dance and it is the belief
of the committee that an un
usually large crowd will be in
attendance.

In Recent Service
Interesting to hosts of valley
friends of Forrest M. Pickett is
announcement of his marriage
to Miss Florence Nelson, daugh
ter of Mrs. Marguerite Nelson
of Portland and Hollywood. The
wedding was solemnized Thurs
day evening. December 14, in
the study of the First Presby
terian church of Portland.
Attending the service were
Mrs. Nelson, mother of the
bride; Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Pick
ett of Medford, parents of the
bridegroom; and Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Pickett of Portland,
brother and sister-in-law of the
bridegroom.
The bride, who has been un
der contract to M.-G.-M. pro
ducers for the past four years,
is an accomplished teacher and
director of dancing, one of her
latest achievements being the
direction of dancing in the
much-anticipated film, "Gone
With the Wind." Before going
to Hollywood, she was in New
York for ten years, where for
two years she was solo dancer
in Ed Wynne's "Laugh Parade."
Mr. Pickett, who was gradu
ated from the Central Point
high school and Oregon State
college, is now associated with
an oil company in Portland,
having been transferred to the
northern city after being a mem
ber of the company's staff here
for several years.
The couple will be at home
at 1410 N. E Weidler street in
Portland.

Christmas Guests
The home of Mr. and Mrs.
Lewis Ulrich on Minnesota ave
nue will be the scene of a fam
ily party Christmas day, when
the Ulrich's welcome home their
son Russell, student at the Uni
versity of Washington.

who was honered last evening
at the annual Queen's ball held
in the Masonic Temple. She is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Stephenson.

At a quiet ceremony held yes
terday noon in Ashland, Miss
Maxine Martin became the bride
of Dr. Robert E. Lee of this city.
Uniting the couple in marriage
was the Rev. W. Weir of the
Methodist church.
The bride wore a wool travel
ing suit of grape wine tones and
black accessories. Mrs. Lee Wil
meth was bridesmaid.
Mr. Wilmeth acted as best
man for Dr. Lee. The couple left
after the ceremony for a wed
ding trip to southern California
and northern Mexico. They plan
to return here shortly after Jan
uary 1 to reside at Dr. Lee's
country home, Lee-Rancho.
Mrs. Lee is the daughter of
Mrs. Louise M. Kaser of Port
land. She is a native of Oregon,
having lived all of her life in
Portland where she received
her education.
Dr. Lee, prominent Medford
optometrist has lived here for
the past ten years.
Puruckers Spend
Holiday In City
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Puruck
er planned to leave Medford to
day by motorcar for the Bay
region.
They will be the house guests
of Mrs. Purucker's sister, Mrs
R. H. Britton in Palo Alto. They
will also visit friends in San
Francisco and expect to return
here about the third of January.
They are making the trip by
motorcar.
