At 5 o'clock last evening in
the Lutheran church, Mrs.
Blanche Deardorf of this city be
came the bride of Victor C.
Struve of Deshler, NebrasKa.
The Rev. Werner Jcsscn united
the couple In marriage.
The bride wore a lovely af
ternoon dress of Burgundy vel
vet with matching accessories
and a gardenia corsage. She was
attended by Mrs. Harry Watson
who wore a plum color crepe
dress and a corsage of gardenias.
Mr. Watson acted as best man
for the bridegroom.
Following the impressive
ceremony, a reception for six
teen guests was held in the
Hotel Medford. The couple
plan to leave tomorrow for Ne
braska to make their home
where Mr. Struve Is associated
with his father In the manufac
turing business.
Coming to Medford to attend
the ceremony was the bride
groom's father H. C. Struve,
and the bride's sister, Mrs. D.
E. Latourcttc of Portland.
Mrs. Struve is the daughter
of Mrs. W. A. Smith of Medford.
She wore a gown of blue crepe
at her daughter's wedding. Mrs.
Struve attended the Medford
schools and is well known here.
The bridegroom is a native
of Nebraska and attended the
University of Nebraska in Lin
coln. Guild Members to
Attend Dinner
Crater Lake Guild members
of the Presbyterian church will
attend the covered dish supper
this evening at 8 o'clock in the
church social hall to welcome
Miss Irene Forsythe of Oregon
City.
The affair this evening will
take the place of the regular
Guild session scheduled for
Monday evening.
Miss Forsythe, recently re
turned missionary from China,
will speak of subjects concern
ing the country which will be of
interest to all.

Medford were married Sunday,
November 10 in Hornbrook, Cal.
The service was read at 5
o'clock in the evening by the
Rev. Bernard Lowry at his
home.
Attending the bride was her
sister, Miss Doris Schafer.
Mrs. Bishop attended school
in Table Rock and Medford and
the Southern Oregon College of
Education.
The bridegroom attended Sal
em schools and the Willamette
university. The couple will re
side in Medford.

wood to Newel Elliott. The cere
mony was held at the Western
Bnptist Theological seminary.
The bride attended University
of Oregon in Eugene. The bride
groom, graduated from Oregon
State college in Corvallis last
spring and enjoyed a trip around
the world in 1938. He is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Elliott
of Ashland and Hereford. The
couple will reside in the latter
town.
Best man was Lee Port, Jr..
of the Applcgato. Mr. Port and
the bridegroom were high school
and college friends.

en returned Tuesday by motor
car from Eugene where they at
tended a large reception given
by the First Christian church
of that city for Mrs. Young's
parents, Rev. and Mrs. F. L.
Cook In observance of their
golden wedding anniversary.
Rev. Cook has been assistant
pastor of the church for the
past seven years.
During the evenings program,
two solos were presented by
Professor Halfrcd Young who
dedicated them to Rev. and Mrs.
Cook. Mr. Young is a former
operatic tenor of international
note, now serving as head of
the voice department at the
University of Oregon. He is also
minister of music of the Chris
tian church in Eugene.

Young will be interested to
know the delight Professor
Young expressed with the un
usual and perfect extent to
which she proved her possession
of the rare gift of absolute pitch
in a severe vocal test which he
gave her.
Rev. and Mrs. Cook are both
former professional musicians
who have traveled widely. They
received numerous congratula
tory messages on their Golden
wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Obye have
as their house guests at their
home on Glenn Oak court, Mr.
and Mrs. A. L. Johnston and
small daughter Janet of Albany.
Mrs. Johnston and Mrs. Obye
are sisters.
This morning, Mr. Obye and
Mr. Johnston left for Rocky
Point in the Klamnth region
for a duck hunting trip.
The visitors expect to remain
here until Sunday, returning to
their home then.

Wesson OH Fruit rake
eggs
1 cup Wesson oil
1 cups brown sugar, firmly
packed
3 teaspoons cinnamon
3 teaspoons all-splce
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup chopped candled pineapple
1 cups chopped candled cherrlea
3 cups chopped nutmeats
3 teaspoons salt
8 cups sifted flour
1 oup fruit Juice
1 cup chopped figs
1 cup shaved citron
1 cup raisins
Combine sugar, egg yolks and
Wesson oil, and beat until well
blended. 81ft spices, baking powder,
salt and two cups of the flour to
gether and add to sugar mixture
alternately with the fruit Juice. Add
remaining cup f flour to fruit and
nuts and stir Into batter. Fold In
stiffly beaten egg whites. Brush 4
one-pound loaf pans or 1 large pan
with wesson oil and line with thin
brown paper brushed with oil. Fill
3-3 full and bake In a slow oven
(370 degrees Fahrenheit) 3 to 314
hours for the small cakes and four
hours for the large cake. This makes
about 4 pounds of fruit cake. Cool
thoroughly before storing.

young college student. And if
experiments in domesticating a
native American mountain
orchid are successful he hopes
they will sell "for around two
bits wholesale."
Mace, a horticulture student
at Grinnell college in Iowa,
climbs Colorado mountains In
the summer "just for fun." It
was on one of these trips he
found his mountain orchids at
8.000 to 10,000 feet altitudes.
Now he has experimental plots
with 8,000 plants.
The price of the usual orchid
is high because most of the orig
inal plants come from India and
South America, and a huge in
vestment is required to grow
them.
