Presbyterian
Meet Tuesday
With 50 women present from
Klamath Falls, Merlin, Ashland,
Roseburg, Grants Pass, Phoenix,
Jacksonville and Medford, the
Southwest Presbyterial confer
ence was held at the First Pres
byterian church in this city
. Tuesday.
Mrs. James H. Edgar of Ash
land, president, presided at the
conference and the main address
of the morning was made by
Miss Eleanor Ewing of San
Francisco, who is on tour in the
interests of home missions. Mrs.
E. Iverson led the devotions. The
topic of the morning was the
stewardship of time, talents and
money.
A covered dish luncheon was
enjoyed at noon and the after
noon discussion was led by Mrs.
Herman Reichard of Grants Pass
followed by another inspiring
talk by Miss Ewing.
It was announced that the an
nual conference would be held
here April 30 and May 1.
Plans for a covered dish sup
per Friday, December 1, were
also announced. At that time
Miss Irene Forsythe of Oregon
City, a returned missionary from
China, will be speaker, bringing
an interesting report of general
conditions in China as well as a
missionary's survey.
During her stay in this city,
Miss Forsythe will be the house
guest of Mrs. A. J. Hanby.

Young Church Group
To Organize Soon,
Meeting Monday
An interdenominational young
people's league is now being
formed in Medford for the pur
pose of promoting good fellow
ship among the young people of
the various churches.
At 7:30 o'clock Monday eve
ning in the Wesley chapel of the
South Methodist church, a meet
ing of representatives from each
church will be held.
An effort has been made to
contact every denomination and
if any have not been contacted
they are urged to send the presi
dent of their young people's soci
ety to the session. Plans for a
general organization and a1 city
wide youth meeting are to be
formulated.
Building Bridge
Club to Convene
Catholic Parish hall on South

scene of the Building Bridge
club party on Thursday.
Dessert luncheon will be
served at 1:30 o'clock, after
which auction and contract
bridge will be played. All per

Thanks Service
A Thanksgiving day service
was held by the First Church of
Christ, Scientist Thursday morn
ing. The Thanksgiving procla
mations by President Roosevelt
and Governor Sprague were
read, also scriptural selections
from Psalms H7-1 to 4, 6 to 9,
11, 12; No. 147-5 to 8; Isa. 55-10
to 14.
Following the scriptural se
lections the congregation united
in silent prayer which was fol
lowed by audible repetition of
the Lord's Prayer.
The sermon-lesson was
"Thanksgiving".
Testimonies appropriate to
the occasion were given by
Christian Scientists in the con
gregation, the period being com
pletely filled by expressions of
gratitude for healing and other
help received during the past
year.
United States families were
divided among home owners
and tenants in the ratio of 14
to 15 in the 1930 census.
