Town Residence Homer
Hixon, ranger in charge of the
Union Creek district of the
Rogue River national forest. Mrs
Hixon and their child have taken
up residence for the winter at
124 Vancouver avenue. Mr
Hixon will be at forest head'
quarters in the Liberty building
for the winter. He is now brine
ing his season's work at Union
Creek to an end preparatory to
closing the ranger station for
the winter.

dan in a dramatic scene from
Alexander Korda's technicolor
adventure drama, "Four Feath
ers," which opens a throe-day
run today at the New Rialto
theatre. The greatest production
Korda has attempted since his
memorable "Drum s," "Four
Feathers" also features June
Duprez and C. Aubrey Smith
with a cast of ten thousand.
The picture was actually filmed
in the Sudan and shows Dever-
lshes in their native haunts,
Four thousand Fuzzy-Wuzzics
(Sudan natives) were engaged
for the war scenes alone. The
story is fashioned after the style
of Kipling the tale of a coward
who takes his four white feath
ers (the sign of cowardice) Into
the Sudan and returns each one
home with a feat of bravery,
thus regaining his position in
life.
"No Place To Go," featuring
Fred Stone, Gloria Dickson and
Dennis Morgan, plays as the
added feature with the adven
ture drama.

Landers, who passed away in
this city very suddenly Sunday
evening, wili be held at the Con
ger chapel at 2 p. m. Wednes
day with the Rev. Sherman L.
Divine officiating.
Mr. Landers was born at
Barrie, Mass., August 12, 1882,
and had resided In Medford for
the last 13 years. Besides his
j wife Dollie Landers, he leaves
i five children, Martha Sjolund,
Ulympia, Wash.: Ruth Wells,
Martinez, Cal.; Dorothy Fleege,
Edith Suhr and Marian Landers,
all of Fargo, N. D.

TICKETS ON SALE
FOR ANNUAL BALL
Annual firemen's ball will be
held Thanksgiving night, Thurs
day, November 23, at Oriental
Gardens, it was announced to
day by Chief Roy Elliott. Music
will be provided by Archie
Legg's 11-piece orchestra, one of
the most popular bands ever
imported into Medford.
"We're going to additional ex
pense this year to make the ball
more enjoyable than ever be
fore and we trust that the pub'
lie will continue to be generous
in its patronage, said Chief
Elliott.
Tickets went on sale today,
They are being sold by the reg'
ular and volunteer firemen
Proceeds from the annual ball
are used to buy materials with
which the firemen repair and
repaint old toys for distribution
among poor children at Christ
mas. The firemen give their
time and talent gratis, doing the
work in the shop they have set
up with their own funds at fire
headquarters.
Chief Elliott issued the first
call today for old toys that are
no longer needed, the firemen
being eager to get an early start
this year. The chief asked that
the discarded playthings be
taken to fire headquarters at
Front and Third streets if it 1
at all possible. If it is not pos
sible to deliver the toys, they
will be called for and donors
were asked to telephone Mrs,
Ray Marti at 763-Y. Mrs. Marti
is president of Lady Lions.
As in the past the Lady Lions
will have charge of the collec
tion of the old toys and the
distribution of the reconstructed
playthings at Christmas.
