have supporting roles.
In the picture, MacMurray is
cast as an adventuring lad, just
returned from Bali, who be
lieves that the proper position
for a woman is in a man s arms
not at the head of a Fifth Ave
nue department store, as Miss
Carroll is cast.
She however, believes in her
career ' until she meets Fred,
just after he has returned from
the lovely South Sea island.
When her friends try to per-
s' auade Madeleine that she should
listen to her heart and recipro-
cate Fred's affection, she re
treats behind her nice cozy desk
of defense. For a while she even
refuses to care for a four-year-old
girl, a waif left on Fred's
hands by an old friend. But she
. , does relent, after another wo
man comes into the scene and
makes a play for Fred. His pro-
posals of marriage rebuffed,
MacMurray proceeds to Bnli and
H isn't too long before Made
leine follows and proposes to
him. Sort of "you chase me, and
then I'll chase you" proposition.
