Fechner. natlonnl director of the Cv
llan Conservation Corps, which ap

tlonal CCC publication, fully answers
these Inquiries:
"In spite of rumors and published
reporta. there ara no official plans
afoot to Inject military training Into
the CCC. Nor, In event tha United
Statea la drawn Into the war In Eu
rope, can CCC enrollera be Inducted
Into the nstlon's riRhtlnfc forces, ex
cept as Individual citizens on ths
same footing aa would apply to those
outside the CCC. . . . The puhtlo
on tha whole. I believe, has not fa
vored military training for tha CCC.
Tha president has opposed It on var
loua occasions. Tha CCC ts not a
part of tha armed forces of tha
country." Director Fechner pointed
out. "While I am sure that If they
are needed, to defend the nation or
uphold Ita rlghta, CCC men would
ba among the first to respond to a
call for such duty, enrollees can not,
under existing law, be Inducted into
these armed forces. They would en
list or ba drafted Into national de
fense service just as any others of
their age not In CCC."
