two nation-wide broadcasts. On CBS
at 11:45 a. m. (Medford time) Daniel
O. Roper, secretary of commerce, will
be presented by Dr. John H. Flnley,
editor emeritus of the New York
Times, and vice president of the
American Bible society. On the Mu
tual network at 10:13 a. m. (Medford
time) Dr. William Lyon Phelps and
John H. Manson, president of the
American Bible society, will speak

men who produce and distribute the
nation's goods today stood commit
ted to a 1030 program for Industry
based largely on a "cooperate-with-government"
plan.
The group In the National Asso
ciation of Manufacturers which fav
ored cooperation with the govern
ment won Its point only after a
close-drawn, behind-the-scenes strug
gle at the association's annual meet
ing. A routine adoption of the plat
form discounted predictions of some
delegates a floor fight would develop,
particularly on the section which
originally called for changes in the
national labor relations act. Alt such
recommendations were eliminated In
the platform approved. ,
The convention went into its last
day with the nation's Industrial
giants awaiting the speech tonight
of Anthony Eden, former British for
eign secretary, who is .making his
first appearance In the United States.
