Duplicate Bridge
Club Organized
At Sunday Meet
A group of Medford bridge fans
gathered Sunday evening at the
home ot Mrs. R. J. Conroy on Med
tord Heights to participate In a
weekly duplicate bridge tournament.
Guests at the affair Included Mr.
and Mrs. H. C. Obye. Captain and
Mrs. William Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. T.
J. Fuson. Mrs. A. F. W. Kresse.
Mrs. George Codding. Gilbert 8tuart.
William Isaacs. Mrs. F. O. Bunch.
Miss Isobel Stuart. Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Watson, Miss Frances Kenney
and Mrs. Conroy.
Those winning tournament polnta
were Mrs. Codding ad Mrs. Kresse
with a score of 37, Mr. Isaacs and
Miss Kenney. 35 points and Mr. and
Mrs. Obye with 3414 points.
The group organized & club that
will hereafter be known as the
"Medford Duplicate Contract Club.
Officers elected Include the follow
ing: Mr. Isaacs, president; Miss Ken-
nev, corresponding secretary and
Mrs. Codding, treasurer.
The organization Is affiliated with
the Pacific Bridge league. Wlnnera
of the weekly tournaments will re
ceive rating and master points, which
will make them eligible for cham
pionship tournament upon comple
tion of ten full master points. Two
hundred rating points equal one
master point alter which It takes
only 100 rating points to obtain a
master point.
The club will convene each Friday
evening. The next meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Conroy at
7 o'clock December 9.
Anyone Interested In joining this
club Is asked to contact Mr. Isaacs
at 1103-L or Mis. Conroy or Mrs.
Watson, the tournament director, at

Mrs. Evanson Back
From San Francisco
Mrs. Edward A. Evanson returned
to her home on South Orape street
Saturday from San Francisco, Cal.
Mrs. Evanson visited friends and
relatives in the Bay area for seven
weeks, while attending the opera
season in San Francisco.
Mrs. Evanson also visited her
daughter. Miss Betty Evanson who
Is a member of the Mills College
personnel.
Study Groups
Combine Meets
, The Study group of the Medford
extension unit and the Jackson
school P.-T. A. will convene Thurs
day afternoon at the home ot Mra.
Rita Myers, 17 Ross Court.
All members of tne two groups are
asked to be present at the meeting.
The organizations recently combined
and hereafter will hold meetings to
gether. Young Music Club
Convenes Wednesday
Young American Music club will
convene Wednesday afternoon at
4:16 o'clock at the Kurtz studio.
A study of the orchestra will be
made and a review of the program
to be played by the Southern Oregon
Symphony December 14 will be
given.
Members eligible to Join this or
ganization should be between the
ages of 8 and 13 and play some In
strument or sing.
At the meeting tomorrow, Verlyn
Thomss will demonstrate on the
violin the theme of Schubert's Un
finished Symphony.
Pocahontas To
Sponsor Dance
On Friday evening the Pocahontas
lodge held election of officers. Those
voted upon were Velma Slngler.

Pro-America Club
For Another Year
Pro - America convened yesterday
afternoon at the Hotel Holland for
a luncheon session and election of
officers.
Thirty members were present and
voted upon the following to flit of
fices: Mrs. C. M. Hurd, re-elected
president: Mrs. C. L. Hopkins, first
vice-president: Mrs. H. D. McCaskey.
second vice-president; Mrs. F. J.
Newman, reporting aecretary; Mrs.
Wllllsm M. McAllister, corresponding
secretary, and treasurer, Mrs. Dwlght
H. Plndley.
The nominating committee in
cluded Mesdamea M. J. Norrls, chair
man; W. J. Warner and R. F. Kyle.
The next meeting, which would
fall on New Year's day will be held
the second Monday in January in
stead. At this session new officers
will take their places and the ap
pointment of alx truatees wilt be
made by the executive board which
Is composed of the officers.
Childreth Home
Scene of Party
Mrs. Wesley Childreth was a re
cent hostess for a surprise party at
her home In Eagle Point honoring
her husband. The enjoyable event
celebrated Mr. Chlldreth'a birthday.
A number of guests were bidden
to the afftlr and presented the
honoree with many handsome gifts.
Including an attractive rocking chair.

Electa Club
Enjoys Meet
The regular meeting of the Electa
social club was held at the nome
ot Mrs. Mlldied Bliss on South Grape
street last week.
Dessert luncheon was served by
the committee In charge after which
a business session was held. It was
decided by the members to send
Christmas gifts to the Masonic old
people's home In Forest Grove. A
needy family will also be remember
ed with a basket of groceries and
other articles.
Sewing and cauls were enjoyed
after the business session.
Interesting Play
Is Wednesday Event
A three-act comedy, "Here Comes
Charlie." will be presented at the
First Christian church tomorrow eve
ning at 8 o'clock.
The play is sponsored and acted
by the young people of the church.
All persona Interested are Invited to
attend the play. There la no ad
mission charge.
The theme of "Here Comes Char-
He" concerns the troubles of two
Ozark hill billies who travel to the
big city to live.

met Saturday. Virginia Lovall pre
sided during the election of officers
which resulted In the following being

with Carman McGrew donated birth
day cakes. The members voted upon
holding a Christmas party, the date
of which will be announced later.

Meets Tonight
The Hl-Trlangle society ot the
First Christian church will meet In
the church parlors this evening at
7:30 o'clock. Leader Roy Cameron
will develop the topic, "Christmas
Spirit in the City." All high school

Meet Thursday
The women of the Central Avenue
Church of Christ are to meet at the
home of Mra. C. B. Canoose, 323
South Orange street Thursday for
a covered dish luncheon. Members
are Invited to attend the meeting
and to bring friends.
The organization urges that any
one having clothing to donate to
bring It to Mrs. Canooses home or
to the church. The women will do
any necessary remodeling on the
clothes which will later be given to
the needy.
