sing at the hospitals and In some of
the stores the Friday before Christmas.
Saturday mornings from 0:30 to
11:30 every Olrl Scout is Invited to
take part In the handicraft classes
at Scout headqunrtera. Each fftrl
furnishes her own material but the

INITIATION RITE
Five new member of the Medford
Elks lodge were Initiated last night
In ceremonies which carried out the
Americanism theme being observed
by Elks clubs throughout the nation
this week. The men were F. H. Mc
Curley, Thomas O'Nell, Harold Ax
land, Dr. C. L. Perkins and Fritz Hls
sen. Another applicant, Farley Hennessy,
will be Initiated for the local lodge
by the Olympla, Wash., lodge. Lester
Irwin, a former member of the Ptee
mont, Neb., lodge, transferred to Med
ford lodge at last night's ceremon
ies. The Initiatory service was conduct
ed by regular officers, assisted by
Robert R. Ebel, commander of the
American Legion. Mr. Ebel presented
to the candidates a beautiful Ameri
can flag.

gave an address on Americanism, and
dancing pupils of Miss Ruth Luy en
tertained with several numbers. The
girls were Polly Hoffard, Aletha Em
eiick, Carmen Wright and Maxlne

passed away at his home In Central
Point early Friday morning from 1m-
flrmltles due to age. He was bom In
Alabama, May 30, 1850. He left his
birthplace and went to Texas In 1873.
where he was married to Cora Lee
Litton, December 3, 1882. Coming to
Salem, Oregon, In 1803, and to Cen
tral Point In 1001 he had resided In
the latter city for the past 37 years.
Mr. ' Olllmore, who had followed
farming all his life, was a member of
the Baptist church since 1866.
He leavea his wife, two sons and
one daughter, Chalmus N. Olllmore.

TO FIX FOR
An urgent call waa Issued today by
the fire department for more old and
discarded toy.
At the same time the Lady Lions
club Issued a plea for more old dolls.
To facilitate contributions the club
has placed barrels at Woolworth'a,
Humphrey's grocery, Mann's depart
ment store, Safeway store on West
Main street and the M. M. department
store. The discarded dolls may be
dropped In the barrels. The old dolls
are re-dressed by the Lady Lions wno
work In cooperation with the fire
department In distributing recon
structed toys to poor children at
Chrlstmaa.
The old toys, may be left at fire
headquarters or they wlU be called
for by the Lady Lions If the depart
ment la notified by telephoning 849.
"The contribution of old and dis
carded toys bss fallen off and we
need a lot more so that we shall
have enough to bring Christmas
cheer to all the underprivileged chil
dren of the district," said Chief Roy
Elliott. "Time la needed to recon
struct and repaint the toys and It
would be appreciated If donations
were made now. We are trying to
avoid a rush at the last minute when
there la not enough time to do a
good Job."
The firemen give their time gratis
In reconstructing the old playthings.
They have a complete workshop
where tho toys are made to look like
new. But If the work Is to be done
properly and If all the poor children
of the district are to benefit, the dis
carded toys must be received In larger
volume without further delay, Chief
Elliott said.

SATURDAY MORNING
A Christian Science funeral service
will be held at the Conger chapel at
10 a. m. Saturday for the late Jnmes
H. Mulhollen, 87, who passed away
at his home, 928 North Central, late
Wednesday night, after spending the
last 30 years of his life in Medford.
He had been confined to his home for
past five years. Interment wilt be

today to a pond of water near Neha
