ETHELWYN B. HOFFMAN
(By The Associated Press)
Premier Daladler of France, having
crushed a labor attempt to wreck
bis government, announced today he
would call a aeaslon of parliament
December 8 and demand It approve
his policies, vehemently opposed by
labor.
He counted on a majority com
posed of his own moderate radical
Socialist party and groups further to
the right. Government circles pre
dicted he could muster strength
enough to override opposition of
Communists and Socialists.
Carol Strong Man
In Rumania, King Carol, who also
emerged dramatically as his nation's
strong man, acted with similar speed
to extend hla power.
Daladler waa undisputed master In
France after crushing a one-day gen
eral strike In protest against his
policies. He ordered a three-year
state of "economic mobilization'? to
carry out hla program end prepared
measurea to punish labor leaders who
had challenged him.
With Cornel lu Zelea Codreanu,
Guard, and 18 of his followers killed.
King Carol was firmly entrenched In
Bucharest. A purge of terrorists was
ordered to obliterate the Fascist Ic
Guard.
Italians spur Action
Daladler's speed was believed In
France to hava been spurred partly
by evidence of Italian ambitions for
a slice of French territory. Shouts of
"Tunisia! Tunisia I" In the Italian
chamber of deputies yesterday were
regarded by French officials as a pos
sible overture to a Fascist campaign
for control of France's North African
protectorate.
In Rome, meanwhile, the Fascist
grand council authorized measures to
permit military conscription In an
emergency among natives of Libya.
Italy'a North African possession bor
dering Tunisia.
In Canborra, Interior Minister John
McEwen told the Australian house of
representatives that Australia would
admit 15,000 European refugees with
in the next throe years to help alle
viate the plight of German Jews.
War Fronts Quiet
The warfronta in Spain and China
were quiet.
The British government announced
a broad plan for mobilization of every
household In Britain for voluntary
national service In the face of a
threat of war.
Blr John Anderson, lord privy leal
and minister for civilian defense, also
warned the house of commons that
Institution of a compulsory national
register "may become necessary.' He
said machinery which would bring
such compulsory mobilization Into
effect within three weeka of the out
break of war waa being prepared.
