Of Party Friday
Th studio of Effie Herbert Kurtz
on North Ivy street, was the scene
Prlday of a delightful party for the
members of the Young Americans
Music club given In honor of Vernon
Jones, the president, and bis brother
Arthur who plan to leave Medford
soon to live In Bedding, California.
Many Interesting gamea were
played, some of them very appropri
ately . bringing out the knowledge
gained from the course of study used
by this group last year.
It was decided to continue the
study this season and meetings will
be held the first Wednesday of each
month at the studio of the counsel
lor, Mrs. Kurtz.
The next meeting will ba December
7th and a thorough study of the
program to be played by the Medford
Junior Symphony on December 14
will be made, which will enable these
young people to better appreciate
and understand the concert which
they will attend In a body. Any
child from the ages of 8 to 13 who
can play any Instrument or sing Is
Invited to become a member of this
organization which Is affiliated with
the National Federation of Music
Clubs.
Vernon and Arthur Jones have
both been active members of this
club and their many friends regret
their leaving Medford.
Mrs. Kurtz served refreshments and
the guests of honor were presented
with a book from the members, each
one autographing It.
Those attending were: Peggy Bray,
Joyce Bateman. Peggy Corum, Betty,
Ina, and Jimmy Hughes, Robert Kyle,
Betty Belle Morrison, Vern Shanglc,
Vera Frances Smith, Verlyn Thomas,

Party Tuesday
Eagles auxiliary Is sponsoring a
public card party Tuesday evening at
8 o'clock at the Eagles hall, 42 North
Front street.
Pinochle and 500 will be played
throughout the evening and refresh
ments and prizes will be offered. The
public Is cordially invited to attend
the affair.
Queen Esther Group
Formulates Plans
The members of Queen Esther
circle of the First M. E. church were
hostesses Tuesday afternoon at the
"Home Coming" monthly meeting.
Devotional period was led by Mrs.
J. C. Tucker. Mrs. Roseborough pre
sided over the business session and
plans for the coming bazaar, Decem
ber 2nd and 3rd were made. The
evening or the second a cafeteria
dinner will be served, and on Satur
day cooked food will be on sale.
Posters announcing the bazaar and
dinner will be displayed In the store
windows.
It was voted to continue the cus
tom of sending "pi a tea of fruit a. id
nuts" to the shut-ins during me
Christmas week.
Mrs. Pankey presented Mrs. Archie
Pierce in several vocal selections,
with Mrs. Lantz as accompanist. Re-'
freshments were served at close of
meeting.
Baptist Ladies
Enjoy Session
Ladies' auxiliary of the Baptist
church held a combined business and
missionary meeting Tuesday at the
home of Mrs. R. L. Hague on the
Pacific highway.
Thanksgiving devotlonals were con
ducted by Mtb. Tucker and the mis
sionary lesson on religious work In
Belgian Congo, was presented by Mrs.
Warner. Interesting letters were read
from missionaries stationed In the
Congo at the Indian mission at Fal
lon, Nevada and Kodta. Alaska.
Refreshments were enjoyed at the
close of the meeting.
