F we Americans ever hod cause to be
thankful for the great privilege of living
under the Stars and Stripes we should be
doubly thankful this 1938.
As we gather with our leved ones about
the Thanksgiving Feast let us remember that
just out beyond our range of vision is misery
and want. That radio which in our own United
States serves only to entertain and instruct,
is in other lands used to build hatred. Vicious
propaganda has poisoned the minds of people
until unfortunate minorities have seen their
homes destroyed, their property confiscated,
their loved ones murdered or exiled, their fam
ilies scattered penniless never to meet again.
Just out of hearing, crashing bombs show
ered by insane war lords on defenseless women
and children are sowing death and destruction.
Beside all of this our little troubles' seem
as naught. Our homes are sacred; our lives
are safe; the family as a unit is not endan
gered. Here if anywhere one can love his
neighbor as himself.
A visiting foreigner recently said: America
Is truly God's chosen country. That is i
dangerous belief. Rather should we remember
that America is America because America has
chosen God.
