organ recitals will be given by Hans
Hoerleln In the First Presbyterian
church at 6 p.m. today. Mr. Hoerleln
will be assisted by GeorRe Maddox.

BURNS. Nov. 12. (AP) "Butter"
Shields of Senejta told tod-iy how he
had to fall over a steep hillside to
find htmslef after being lost this
week on an elk hunt.
Shields said he had wandered all
Friday night in sub-zero weather af
ter losing his bfitrinKs. Almost ex
hausted, he leoned against a tree and
started to doze. He awakened to feel
himself falling, was knocked uncon
scious by some object and when he
regained his senses he found himself
at the bottom of a steep hill, from
where he succeeded In making his
way to a camp fire of another group
of hunters.
Brought to a hospital here, ho wus
found to be suffering only from ex
haustion and frozen ears. Employed
by a logging company, Shields Is wrll
known in eastern Oregon baseball.
VERDICT BY JURY
A circuit court Jury last week re
turned a verdict In favor of Ivan
Mover and wife, operators of the
Medford Beouty Culture Shop. In the
suit of Ruth Daw, against them for
$2500.
The plaintiff alleged that In pro
curing a permanent wave In March,
1938. she sustained burns on the
neck, that prevented hair from grow
ing in the burned area.
The Jury deliberated only a short

Fear that heavy snows falling In the
Blue mountains have Jeopardized up
wards of 100 elk hunters grew today
as state police, game and forestry of
ficials heard many rumors of missing
men.
State police sold no specific in
stances of any person being lost had
been received although they did not
doubt that scores who drove Into the
mountains are marooned. Game and
forestry officials sent expert woods
men into the mountains to help
stranded hunters.
The Mt. Emily Lumber company's
camp at Btarkey has been assisting
hunters out of Fly valley with cater
pillars. Gerald Tucker, a forest su
pervisor, returned here last night af
ter aiding In a search for a man
named Sheomon of Portland, who was
found after being reported lost for 33
hours.
