William Poell, 68 -year old farmer,
literally took the bull by the horns
and saved his life.
Knocked down and gored, Powell
locked his legs around the animal's
neck, grasped a born and reached In
his pocket for a knife.
Opening the blade with his teeth.
Powell severed the bull's windpipe.
The animal dragged Powell about
30 feet and then fell dead.
Physicians said today Powell suf

Cola Co., directors today shared in
creased " earnings with .both stock
holders and employes.
The board voted a year-end divi
dend of $2 a share on common stock
in addition to the usual dividend
of 75 cents a common share. In

Today's disbursements lifted 1038
payments to $4.50 a common share,
the same as in 1037.
Directors, In addition, voted an
extra month's salary to all employes
outside the managerial group who
have been continuously employed

managerial personnel will partici

WASHINGTON, Nov. 5. (AP The
agriculture department announced
today promulgation of new standards
for measuring quality of creamery
butter, to become effective next
April I. They will replace tentative
standards now in effect.
Officials said tho new standards
would provide a more exact and
simplified system of determining the
official score of creamery butter. The
range of score will be narrowed from
the old basis of 75 to 95 points to
a new basis of 85 to 03 points.
They said n simple and more di
rect method of rating each factor
flavor, body, color And salt, had
been substituted. Flavor will consti
tute the most Important factor of
quality with workmanship secondary.
The new grades definitely identify
and evalute some 30 flavors with a
scoro rating for each.
