Football Game I n
Rollicking Comedy
On Craterian Bill
The swetlest football game of the
season will not be played between
what Damon Runyon calls the Har
vard and the Vales. It will not, be
the Army-Navy game or the Rose
Bowl classic You can see It right
now at the Craterian theatre, where
"Hold That Co-ed" opened yesterday,
with a delighted audience practically
rolling In the aisles as Joan Davis,
the screen's number one comedienne,
proves that she's also the world's
greatest drop-klckerl
For those who take their football
seriously, "Hold That Co-ed" also
reveals some of the most genuinely
exciting gridiron play ever screened.
But It la the Davis performance
and John Barrymore e. as a budget
bouncing co-ed-ehaslng governor who
sponsors the team that gives the
picture its hilariously goofy flavor
and makes of it what la undoubtedly
the funniest comedy of recent
months.
Mischievously conceived and with a
slyly topical story, the film finds
Barrymore In a riotous role. Just
as England is said to win her wars
on the playing fields of Eton. Bar
rymore finds it convenient to win
hla campaigns on the gridiron of the
stat university and hav.e time left
over to make passes at the campus
