Costume of the 1860 period have
been made by the play production
classes under the expert eye of Lola
Bowmer. wife of the director, and
sets also were designed and con
structed by the class.
In undertaking "Little Women"
. the SONS players are making spe
cial concession to the value pre
sented In training for hundreds of
ftrnmattc Instructors among the
teachers who will attend from the
various counties. This play has been
selected as one. with Its lovable plot
and very human characteristics,
which may be presented by any stu
dent body In southern Oregon.
All talented, some experienced In
stage work, the cast of "Little Wom
en" la picked at random from the
SONS student body.
William Westfall. In the part of
'John Brooks" Is an Ashland boy
who for two years has worked under
Bowmer and was a dramatic fan In
high school.
John Barker, another Ashland boy.
has about the same experience and
will be cast as "Professor Bhaer."
As "Meg" will be Louise DuBols. a
second-year student from Madison.
Wis., who has worked in many
Shakespearean productlons.-
Janet Young. Ashland girl, has the
lead as "Jo" and is active In her
first year as a EONS student.
From Cottage Grove comes Dor
othy Slemann. a first-year student,
who takes the part, of "Amy."
Another first-year student. Jean-
ete Fields. Medford. plays "Marmee.
Lois Firestone, the "Beth" of the
play, halls from Talent and Is active
in musical circles of the Normal
whero.. she plays first, violin .In the
school orchestra.
Jeanne Burton, "Aunt March." and
Ted Marshall. "Laurie." are bet;
first-year students. Miss Burton Is
from Chlloquln where she was on
the high school debate team. Mar
shall's home is In Medford and he
Is noted as a musician, having won
the state championship as a trum
peter
Completing th cast Is Ralph Lamb.
Eagle Point. In the rcT of "Papa
March." Lamb last year was resi
dent of the high school student body
at Eagle Point where he did band
work and was active in all student
body activities.
The piece will not only be a credit
to the educational conference and the
school but also will serve as a send
off for the 10th annual SONS home
coming week-end which will draw
"old Brads" to Ashland Friday and
Saturday.

First Meet Tuesday,
Parent Study Club
The first leader training meeting
for parent education study club lead
ers of Jackson county will be held
at the courthouse auditorium next
Tuesday. October 25, commencing at
1 p. m.. Mabel C. Mack, county home
demonstration agent, announced to
day. Officers of all study clubs, in
cluding chairmen, secretaries and two
study club leaders, should attend
this first meeting.
Mrs. Maud M. Morse, extension
specialist In parent education, will
instruct the officers and leaders in
the, plan of organlration of study
clubs, duties of officers and tech
niques of leadership. Any organiz
ation wishing to cooperate in the
parent education program Is urged
to send lenders to this meeting.
The study club course for the year
will consist of six meetings on "Liv
ing Together in the Family"; specific
ffubject to be discussed will be: The
Family Situation Today. Husband
Wife Relationships. Parent-Child Re
lationships. Child-Child Relation
ships. Family-Relative Relationships,
Famlly-Communily Relationships.
Cooperating organizations will hold
one study club meeting each month
end will send leaders to the monthly
meetings. There were 34 study clubs
in Jackson county Inst year and

words of J. Orb in Cooksey, local
Hudson dealer, on .his return Friday
from Portland where he attended a
preview of the nev; 1939 Hudson
line.
The Hudson Una for 1939 consists
of the Hudson 113. Hudson 6, and
Hudson 8. The 113, which has an
86-horsepower motor, is In the low
est price field. It was planned to
retain Its national reputation as the
economy car. The Hudson 6. which
Is in the medium priced field. Is
more luxurious than ever, according
to Mr. Cooksey. The price of this
model has been reduced over one
hundred dollars. The Hudson
which Is also lower In price, will
be available In two country club
series.
The local preview of the full line
of the 1939 Hudson cars will be held
about November 1 in the new home
of the Chapman-Cooksey Motor Co..
