In speaking of the 1938 celebration.
Peat Commander R. R. Ebel stated:
"This yenr World war veterans will
celebrate the twentieth anniversary
of the Armistice as members of the
American Legion. As American Le
gionnaires, they will celebrate the
nation's newest national holiday
Armistice Day Nov. 11. As they com
memorate the anniversary that mark
ed the world's desire to turn from
the din of bottle, .they will be en
tering upon the American T-eglon's
twentieth year of service for endur
ing peace. All will go forward In the
knowledge of their contribution to
Americanism.

Jackson county'i farm1 security
committee has set Monday. October
31, as the deadltne for tenant, farm
purchase loan applications, an
nounces Eugene Hampton, county
PSA supervisor and executive secre
tary, of. the committee, Medford.
All applications for farm purchase
loans under the second year's pro
gram of the Bankhead-Jonea tenant
act must be made at the office of
the county supervisor In the Fluhrer
building here. Farmers must be resi
dent tenants in ths county and En
able to secure sn adequate loan for
farm purchase from other sources at
reasonable terms. In order to qualify.
Preference will be given to mar
ried persons or persons with de
pendent families; to persons able to
make a down payment; or to per
sons who own livestock and equip
ment necessary to carry on farming
operations.
An allotment of 93,016 hss been
made available to Jackson and Lane
counties for this year's program In
Oregon and Is expected to provide
from 16 to 30 farm purchase loans.
After all applications are received.
the county committee, composed of
T. 8. Wiley, chairman; Otto Bohnert
and Earl Ulrlch, all of Jackson
county, will examine all applications,
appraise farms applicants propose to
purchase and recommend applicants
who have the character, ability and
experience deemed necessary for sue
cessful farm ownership.

The third regular meeting of the
Young Grangers' Auxiliary will be
held Wednesday evening. October 19
at the Roxy Ann Orange hall In
Medford,
All young Grangers between the
ages of 14 and 30 are eligible to
attend these meetings and take part
in the program. The newly -organized
unit Is concerned with creating more
Interest for the younger members of
the subordinate Granges. Various
kinds of entertainment, drill teams
and lecture programs will be under
taken In the near future and co
operation of all Grangers Is very
valuable to successfully attain that
achievement.
A good program has been planned
by the cabinet members and a num
ber from each Orange would bo ap
preciated. Refreshments will be served
by the YOA from Central Point.
