iod have been Identified by E. L.
Packard of the Oregon State college
geology department.
The bones were unearthed by
WPA workers near here, and were
at first believed to be the remain
of one animal, Packard's Inspection
dispelled that theory.
Packard, after his examination,
said:
"I have been accumulating data
for many years covering the life of
the Willamette valley during the
geological period which we refer to
as the Ice age. It Is now known
that there were two or three klnde
of elephants, one or two types of
horses, a wolf, a bison, a camel and
ground sloths.
"Discovery of so many ancient
bones tn one locality within the
Willamette valley 1s rather unusual
and I hope that I may have he
opportunity of examining the local
ity for possible additional material.
Such specimens do have considerable
scientific Interest in the ancient life
In Oregon."

ditional through soil conservation
and from partial parity payment,
made the farmer's financial outlook
much brighter.
