Movie Quia picture opening a three
day run today at the Craterian thea
ter, Is of special significance. Based
on actual court records of New York's
racket drive, the film has Humphrey
Bogart, George Brent, Gloria Dickson,
Allen Jenkins and Walter Abel In the
leading roles.
While the city In which the plot
of "Racket Busters" unfolds 1s ob-
fviously New York, the film treats of
a condition which is common to vir
tually every large American city. And
it is not so much the story of what
any one man has done or can do to
radicate the manifold evils of rack
eteering as It Is the story of what
an aroused citizenry can do to put an
'end to this civic cancer.
It deptcta the ruthless methods
.employed by a sinister racketeer,
played by Bogart, to exact tribute
from the trucking business of a great
city. It tells of the effort of a
'special prosecutor, played by Abel,
to end the racket.

Never In the history of theatrical
presentation In Medford has there
been such a great array of motion
picture and sound equipment em
ployed by a local theater to produce
a novelty attraction for their pat
and next Saturday will find the
entire local cast in screen makeup,
performing before the lens of the
camera. Many of the scenes pext
Saturday will be filmed in the busi
ness district, affording out-of-town
shoppers and visitors a chance to
see how real movies are made.
This coming Tuesday and Wednes
day nights, at the Rialto theatre,
the public will have an opportunity
of seeing some of the best dramatic
and musical talent of this trade
territory appearing before the re
cording microphone. These people
will all have their chance to take
part In the first sound motion pic
ture ever produced here, and Judg
ing from the tremendous amount of
interest being shown, the audience
will be given an unusual treat dur
ing the recording of the auditions.
So many registrations have been
made for auditions the past week
that it Is feared that some of the
applicants may not have been in
formed that they should be at the
Rialto theatre Tuesday afternoon,
not later than 4:30 for volume tests.
The electrical transcriptions, how
ever, will not be made until the 9:00

motion picture equipment . which
o'clock show Tuesday and Wednesday

duced wholly as an idea of fun for
everyone concerned, the invitation is
