Heavy overnight buying orders
from all parts of the country and
abroad swamped the stock exchange
during the first half hour's dealings
and the ticker tape was behind as
much as two minutes throughout
this period as large blocks of the
favorites changed hands at soaring
prices.
The feverish rush to get aboard
the ascending van lost momentum
near the second hour and, from then
on, the proceedings were orderly
