4 50 costs In Justice of the peace
court this morning for driving a car
without an operator's license. . He
pleaded guilty. He was given until
Saturday to procure a license. State
police arrested him yesterday morn
. ing on the Thompson creek road.
Driver Tests Applicants for licenses
or permits to operate cars will be
examined here as usual Saturday.
Applicants are asked to report to
Ward McReynolds, state examiner,
who will be In council chambers on
the- top floor of city hall from 8 to 5.

Making Quilt Griffin Creek Home
Economics club held a special meet'

club at its weekly dinner-meeting
in the Hotel Holland last night.
Principal service of the Lions club
is to the blind and twice a year the
Medford club Is host to a group of
sightless residents.

Scouts of Lions-sponsored troop 8,
Jerry McDougal and Roger Wolf.
Roger entertained with several piano
solos.
New members introduced were Fred
Landers, who came hers recently
from Monahans, Texas, Carl Bis
mark of the Hawklnson Tire Service,
and Allen R. Smith of the Medford
Lumber company.
It was announced that the meet
ing place had been definitely changed
and that the club henceforth would
convene at 6:30 each Tuesday eve
ning In the Hotel Holland.
HELD AS BANDITS
PORTLAND, Sept. 21. (AP) Four
holdups which netted only 110 were
believed solved today by police with
the arrest of five boys ranging In
age from 14 to 16 years.
Patrolmen Myron Warren and Hugh
Davenport stumbled on to the alleged
culprits when they chased down a
speeding automobile and found four
boys In possession of a loaded pistol.
The fifth lad was arrested at his
home. Among the victims was a traf
fic coach operator.

congressional nomination In the 11th

in his campaign for a fourth-term
nomination. Despite efforts by some
politicians to consolidate the La Foi
lette opposition, Robert K. Henry,

Democratic gubernatorial contest.
In the Wisconsin contests for sen
atorial nominations, Rep. Thomas
Amlie trailed Herman L. Ekern on
the Progressive ticket and Alexander
Wiley led a field of six for the Re
publican designation. Sen. F. Ryan
Duffy was unopposed for Democratic
renomlnatlon.
Wisconsin Republicans led In total
votes for the first time since the
La Foilette group organized the sepa
rate Progressive party in 1034.
