Lake Creek community Is Justly proud
of the achievements of Its 4-H club
members. Many of the ccompllsh
ments of the children and their lead
en wlU be exhibited at Lake Creek
Orange hall Sunday, September 18.
More than 20 calves, which have
been carefully fed and groomed by
their young owners, who are members
of the Baby Beef club, will be on
display. Members of the club are
Lewis Walch, Charles Stanley, Janet
Charley, Merton Brndshaw, Wlllard
Walch, Clayton Charley, Oordon Stan
ley, Katherlne Walch, Bob Damon.
Dorothy Stanley, and Lee Damon.
Floyd Charley Is local leader.
Under the leadership of Myrtle
Charley, the clothing classes made a
splendid record, as shown by the
results of the Home Economics fair
held In Medford recently. All mem
bers of the Clothing I B club were
awarded prizes, receiving all those
offered in the county for that division-Awards
were as follows: Leila Da
mon, first; Joan Damon, second;
Janet Zundel, third; Dorothy Stanley,
fourth; Lillian Damon, fifth; Kath
arine Walch, sixth.
Those enrolled in Clothing n work
unit and their awards were: Gwen
dolyn Charley, first; Lois Wright, sec
ond; Janet Charley, sixth; Alleen
Hansen, Betty Jane Trueblood.
These two clubs received nine of
the total of 13 prizes offered In the
eounty. All this work will be ex
hibited September 18.

mon comprised a champion Judging
team which won a trip to the atate
fair. Lola Wright and Dorothy Stan-
toy rated second in clothing Judging,
In the style review for Clothing n,
Lois Wright won second place and
Gwendolyn Charley, third.
Livestock Judging team which won
a trip to the state fair was composed
of Charles Stanley, Lewis Walch and
Wlllard Walch; Charles Stanley rat
ing first in the county.
One of the major attractions of
the day will, of course, be the boun
tiful chicken dinner, for which sys
tematic arrangements are nearly com
pleted. Community exhibits will also be on
display.

More Relief Butter
WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 (PFarm
administration officials announced
today the government would purchase
30.000,000 pounds of butter for relief
distribution by state relief agencies
during the next few months. The
authorization Is In addition to 10,
000.000 pounds of butter purchased
this month and now being distributed.

(Spl.) New students at the Southern
Oregon Normal school will take the
spotlight for the first week, beginning
Monday, September 19. and will be
personally welcomed, entertained and
oriented with a program of lectures
and social activities, while former
students returning "take a back
seat."
Entertainment for entering women
students, each of whom will be greet
ed In person by a big sister, has been
planned for Tueaday and Wednesday
evenings, with the all-school mixer on
Friday night. Dorothy Thomas and
Marilyn Chrlstlleb of Ashland, presi
dent and vice-president of the asso
ciated women students, will welcome
all new glrla on the first day of
school.
The program for men, with Lee
Merrlman of Trail, president of the
associated men students as general
chairman. Includes meetings and dis
cussions on Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday, with a stag on Wednesday
evening in the gymnasium.
Monday. Tueaday and Wednesday
will be filled with registration and
entrance examinations during school
hours. Classes and clubs will get off
to a flying start this first week, as
hours are scheduled for their organi
sation and election of offlcera.
