Information reaching the Czecho
slovak government Indicated Germany

cessions was not revealed, but it wxr

Described by a government spokes
man as "material" and as a likely
"new basis for negotiation," they
were put forward by the political
ministers of the Czechoslovak gov
ernment last night and raised hopes
of negotiations trying to overcome
the deadlock.

heard at all services Saturday and
Sunday of the district quarterly
meeting now being held at the Free
Methodist church, C. B. Starkey, pas
tor, announced today.
Representatives from all circuits In
the Rogue River district are attend
ing the meeting. The Rev. J. R.
Stewart and family of Portland ar
rived yesterday, and the Rev. Stewart
will have charge of the remaining
services. At 0 o'clock Saturday morn
ing, be will address the quarterly
conference, and bring the Sunday
morning service at 11 o'clock.
Evylln Hadsell. missionary to Mex
ico, will bring the message at 2:30
and 7:30 p. m. Sunday. The public
is invited to all services.

derby flashed the green light today
for 26 drivers and their home-constructed
vehicles, who on East Main
street this evening will send their
racing creations roaring down a one
quarter mile speedway in search of
the victors honor, glory and loot.
The derby will start promptly at
6:30 o'clock, with the speeders cata
pulting off a city-constructed ramp
at the end of the wide pavement at
the top of the hill on East Main
street, and breasting the tape at Wil
lamette avenue. Streetcar tracks on
East Main street have been filled in
and resurfaced by the city, placing
the derby ruce track In excellent con
dition. Three More Enter

number of speeders from 23 to 26.

Baseball Injury Fatal
OSWEGO. N. Y.. Aug. 26. 0P
George McCarthy, 19, of Oswego, died
today from a brain injury received
yesterday when he was struck in the
head by a pitched ball in an Oswego
playground league contest.
A and B will be determined after
two elimination heats, with the first
two finishers In each two hent3 of
the two classes meeting in the finals.
There will probablr be only one heat
in class C.
Progression of the derby will be as
follows: first heat, class B; first heat,
class A; second heat, class B. second
heat, class A: .finals, class B; finals,
class A; finals in class C.
Street Blocked
There will be five entrants in er.ch
of the class A and B heats. For In
stance, the first and second place
speeders In the first class A heat
will enter the finals with the first
and second place speeders in the
second class A heat, making a total
of four class A vehicles which will
race In the class A finals. The same
method of reaching the finals will
be followed in class B.
Clyde Flchtner. city traffic officer,
will precede all speeders down the
track and tow the two winners back
to the starting point at the conclu
sion of each heat.
East Main street, from the top of
the hill to Crater Lake avenue, will
be blocked to traffic and parking
during the derby, but spectators will
find plenty of standing room on the
sidewalks along the race route. A
public address system operated by
Guy Davis will keep the crowd in
formed of the progress of the derby.
Not listed yesterday but cooperat
ing with officials in making the
derby a success have been Alexan
der's grocery and the Woods Lumber
company.

GETS FISH QUOTA
Supervisor Karl L. Janouch of the
Rogue River national forest service
announced today tne completion of
the flsh-plnntlng program In the
Lake of the Woods district, first arei
to receive Its full quota of fish.
A total of 101.100 rainbow and
eastern brook trout have been plant
ed In the district, he stated, with
30,000 rainbow placed In Island lake.
25.000 rainbow In Heavenly Twins
lake, 23.600 eastern brook In Pour
mile lake, 1.000 eastern brook In Dee
lake and 1.500 In Bert lake.
In the Butte Falls district, 14,400
rainbow trout have been planted In
the upper middle fork of Rogue river
ana 22.000 rainbow tn the Blue can
yon lakes, he stated. Two other dis
tricts remain to receive their com
plete stock of trout Applegate and
Union Creek, he said
