county prison at Holmesburg. where
a "hunger strike" has been' In pro
gress since last Friday, said today
four prisoners were found dead In
their cells.
Dr. Charles H. Hersch said there
were no marks of violence on the
bodies. He did not say what might
have caused the deaths.
Mills said those dead were Edward
Hayes. James McQuade. Harry Os
borne and Joseph Walters.
He described the men as "dis
turbers." but refused to say whether
the men were among those who had
