of the new firm. Caughlll will also
supervise the thorough recondition
ing program under which all used
cars of Hahn Motor company will be
handled. Upon the completion of this
reconditioning work, every used ;ar

according to company officials.

Jesse Polanco. a San Antonio Mexican
youth, arm Collan H. Morgan of El
Paso died In the electric chair at the
Texas state penitentiary early today.
Polanco was executed for the mur
der of George Forbls, a bus driver
during a holdup. He died while sing
ing "The Sweetest Girl In San An
tonio." polanco was plsced In the
chair at 13:16 a. m., C. S. T., and was
pronounced dead at 12:22. 1
Morgan, who killed his wife, Eleanor
Hose Morgan, died first. He entered
the death chamber shortly after mid
night and refused any comment other
than a sullen "No" to Warden W. W.
Wald's question If he had any last
words.

CHICAGO, Aug. 19. (UP) Because
he allegedly taught his two small
sons to greet friends with "Hell
Hitler." IrtBh-born Harry Doherty was
denied the right to visit them today.
Mrs. Elizabeth Doherty was granted
the Injunction by Superior Court
Judge Peter M. Schwaba after she
testified her estranged husband had
taught their two sons, Harry. Jr., 10.
and Jackie, 7, Nazi German princi
ples. Doherty said he hsd seen th?
children only twice In two years and
branded the charges as "silly."

detective thriller. The make-believa
of a Hollywood movie drama becomes
punishing reality as far aa the
"props" are concerned, and a car has

quence. During the filming of Republic's
latest thriller "Pick Tracy Returns,"
opening at the Roxy. Ply mouths were
used as "O-Men" squad cars In many
a break-neck chase before the "vil
la Ins" are brought to Justice. As a re
sult, one of Plymouth's staunch est
fans today Is Ralph Byrd, movie star
who plays the part of the nationally
fairoua super-detective Dick Tracy.
"When the Plymouth we used dur
ing the filming of this serial were
called upon to leave highways and
dash cross-country through ditches
and over rock heaps, they took such
tasks In their stride," Byrd pointed
out.
"We used an entire fleet of 1938
Plymouth cars In the filming of hti
serial, and at no time were we faced
with the expensive problem of de
laying production due to the failure
of the cars."
The new "cars proved, the actor re
ports, that recent improvements in
riding comfort are also a boon to
screenland's professional heroes who
must arrive In the nick of time with
undiminished vigor regardless of
the perils of the trip.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10. (UP)
The Federal Surplus Commodities
corporation announced today It would
purchase surplus dried clingstone and
freestone peaches In California.
The purchase program will begin
Immediately and continue until June
30. 1039. The peaches will be dis
tributed to needy people through
state relief agencies.
The corporation said It would buy
from growers, associations of grower
or packers through authorised agents
The surplus removal program was
necessitated, the corporation said, be
cause the total production of Cali
fornia dried peaches this yesr will
be the largest In several years.

BAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 10. (UP)
The body of a woman, Identified as
Mrs. Hope Elizabeth Draper, 44, was
found In a trunk at her home here
last night. There was an empty bot
tle which had contained chloroform
near the trunk.
The disco-very was made by her
husband, Arthur Draper, a traveling
salesman, when he returned homo
after a business trip.
The coroner's office believed Mrs.
Draper had been dead since Monday
and that she had taken her own
life.
Draper's attention was attracted
to the trunk because it was not In
its usual position. He lifted the lid
and found the body, In sitting posi
tion with the knees pulled up and
the head resting on the hands.
Mrs. Muriel Burke and a daughter,
16. had been In the house since
Monday, -but they believed Mrs, Dra
per was away on a visit.
