Drunk Punished Frank Thomas
Glbbltn, 37, a transient, was ordered
by City Judge Allen D. Curry to
leave town Immediately or spend 10
days In city Jail on a charge of
drunkenness. He told the Judge he
would leave town.

after a week's visit at Odell with his

M. Hamilton pastor of the First
Christian church, has returned to
Medford after spending a vacation
of three weeka In national parks of
California. He will occupy the pul

son today began a taxlcab business
here with one cab. His stand la it
the Hotel Allen. A license for the
remainder of the year was granted to
Mr. Carson by the city council at
Its meeting last Tuesday night. The

Mining Agent Here Miss MarceJla
McCullough. field agent for an up
state mining syndicate, returned to
Medford today for two days of con
ferences after spending some time on
business In Nevada. Miss McCullough
spent most of ithe winter here on
syndicate business pertaining to a
dredge operation in Jacksonville.
Tests of the Jacksonville land wore
made during the winter but Mlas
McCullough declined to say what the
results were.

That common barnyard chickens are
a knockout for rattlesnakes was dem
onstrated here when Mrs. Lee Bull
Ington discovered a flock of chickens
pecking at the rattles of a rattle
snake as It tried to get away. They
had already pecked Its body until it
had no fighting spirit left.
Tape Measures Needed
KLAMATH FALLS (UP) Sales of
tape measures here are expected to
boom. It all started when Irate resi
dents protested of loud radios and
phonographs at late hours. Chief of
Police Frank Hamm dug out the ord
inance book and found an old law
which prohibits anyone from using
a "noise making machine" which can
be heard at a point more than 50
feet from the point of operation.

attention at the Alpine Village Inn
and the exclusive BogglO Lounge In
this heavily visited Colorado tourist
center.
The waltz Is being featured at
nightly dances at the Alpine Inn, a
unique establishment on a hillside
overlooking the village. A ten-piece
orchestra wrote special arrangements
for the waltz which is also a favor
ite with dancers. Entertainers at
Boggios are featuring the number in
their song end dance routine.
Shirley Temple's
Contest To Close
Saturday Evening
Tomorrow night at midnight Is the
closing date for the Shirley Temple
contest to flhd the little southern
Oregon girl who most closeW re
sembles the screen's "number 'one"
star.
Entries may be mailed or brought
to the Medford Mall Tribune or Cia
terlan theater but all' mailed entries
must bear a postmark before mid
night tomorrow or they will not bo
entered In the contest.
The contest la open to all little
girls now residing In southern Ore
gon. All photographs must be of
recent date. There Is no limit to the
number of photos each contestant
may enter: however, each photo imwt
bear - the name, address and age of
the contestant. All photographs will
be returned to the owners upon the
completion of the Judging.
First prize will be 10 In cuh
second 7.50, third 5: In addition,
all three winners will receive a per
sonally autographed photograph from
Shirley Temple herself.
