King Here Fred P. King, former
Copco employe here and now pur

Band Vacations Accordion band
members and their director, Mrr.
Harry Prentice, are leaving tonight
and tomorrow for Lake of the Woods
where, they will spend the week-end
at the cabin of Mr. and Mrs. F. F.
Burk. Twenty-four band members
will make the trip.

Medford municipal airport this fore
noon to discharge A. B. Rldgeway
and F. R. Stipe of Portland. The
men registered at the Hotel Medford,
Ordinarily the forenoon Malnllner
files over Medford.
To Coast Mrs. -Lillian B. Walker
who has been employed at Trail, will
leave Sunday on a trip to the coast
with her son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Clem .Flnley. Mrs. Wal
ker ts now vacationing at the home
of her mother, Mrs. G. Jenkins, In
Central Point.
Visits Here Arvella Carbiener of
San Jose. Cal., arrived In Medford
Wednesday to spend a few days wltb
her twin sister. Lucella O'Brien of
Adrlenne's hat department. The two
will leave tomorrow for San Fran
Cisco where Miss O'Brien will attend
the fall and winter fashion markets.
Burned by Steam H. E. Powell of
Central Point was reported today as
recovering satlfactorlly from steal i
burns though the danger of lnfec
tton had not passed. Mr. Powell
was burned last Saturday when he
attempted to fill the radiator of
tractor.

.Moving to Portland Mrs. Ellen C
Dalrymple will leave here this week
end for Portland where she will make
her home. For the past two months
Mrs. Dalrymple has been a git est nt
the home of her son, H. B. Dalrymple
of 15 South Peach street. She is
former Medford resident, having Jived
for four years at Katherlne Court.
Back From Hospital Joe E. Wood
of 411 Laurel street, who has been
receiving treatment In the Veteran's
hospital in Portland for the past five
weeks, returned home last night. Mr.
Wood said he felt much better and
was greatly improved In health. He
brought news that Col. E. E. Kelly,
confined In the hospital for several
weeks, Is also showing rapid Improve
ment and expects to return to Med
lord in about two weeks. Mr. Wood
praised the hospital staff for the
excellent care and careful attention
given veterans confined there.
Car Damaged When the driver
fell asleep at the steering wheel whllo
traveling north on South Riverside
venue shortly after 1 o'clock this
morning, a car driven by 'Monroe
Fulta of 242 Beatty street left the
road and crashed Into an electric
light pole opposite 710 South River
side avenue, a city police report shld
today. The machine, a Chevroloi
coach, was considerably damaged
but the driver sustained only a slight
cut above his eye, according to
polios.
Call on Banwell Jay W. McCune,
manager of the traffic department
of the Tacoma, Wash., Chamber of
Commerce, called yesterday on A. H,
Banwell, manager of the Jackson
County Chamber of Commerce. The
two men were once associated In
chamber of commerce work In Ta
ooma and had not seen each other
for years. Mr. McCune was accom
panled by his wife. The visitors
were en route home from a tour that
Included Tosemlte national park and
Lake Tahoe, Cal. Mr. and Mrs. Mc
Cune planned to see Crater Lake na
tlonal park and the Oregon Caws
after leaving here.

this year's Oregon Shakespearean Fes
tival, committee members reported
today that the drive Is already close
to last year's total.
Mrs. H. Chandler Egan. chairman
of the Medford group, received re-
porta from her workers today which
Indicated tr.at before evening last
year's total will have been reached
The drive will continue until nest
Wednesday, with the festival opening
next Friday evening.
The festival is attracting unusual
support this season, Mrs. Egan said.
The four plays, "Hamlet," "Merchant
of Venice." "Taming of the Shrew"
and "Twelfth Nieiit," to be present
ed from August 5 to 13, In Ashland's
Elizabethan theatre, promise to be
the best In the four-year history of
the festival, she declared.

CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK
Ore., July 29. (Spl.) A report from
Superintendent E. P. Leevitt's office
Indicates that exceptionally good
catches of rainbow trout and silver-
side salmon have been made in Cra
ter lake during the past week. Tho
catches per hour per fisherman have
been better during the past week
than at any time during the sum
mar. -
On July 21 a party of two fished
three hours, returning with five fish
three rainbows and two allversldis.
The smallest, a sllverslde. tipped the
scales at 1 pounds; the largest,
rainbow, weighed 7,i pounds. On
July 25 a party of four returned
from six hours fishing with 26 fish
ranging in weight from 2 to 5
pounds, the largest being a sllverclde
salmon. Other good catches have
been reported during the week.
The best catches have been ob
tained by trolling with large flashers
in fairly deep water near shore, using
worms for bait.
Rowboats and tackle may be rented
at the foof of the Lake trail. A great
er number of boats are available than
during any previous summer. No
license Is necessary to fish In Crater
lake. The limit Is 12 fish per day
per person.

delegates adopted today a resolution
approving the TJ. 8. government's
protests against bombing civilians In
Spain and China.
The association also recorded Its
conviction the principle "that trea
ties must be observed" Is a cardinal

"the full and faithful observance of
covenants among nations Is essential
to preservation of order, peace and
law In International affairs."
