owned by Jame H. Ping of 808 Palm
street. The car wu given to Mr. Ping
two years ago by Ita original owner,
A. M. Kalladay of 513 Palm atreot who
died last spring. It Is still registered
In Mr. Halladay's name.
The roadster now looks like a mu
seum piece, with Its brass trim, acety-
ene and kerosene lamps, high, bug
like body and starting crank. But to
Mr. Ping It Is still a means of smooth
and rapid transportation.
The owner proudly exhibited the
24-year-old car to a group of by
standers In front of the Jackson
County Chamber of Commerce the
other day. "Will It run?" someone
asked.' In reply Mr. Ping turned on
the switch, an accomodating specta
tor flipped the crank and the engine
started purring.
"Hasn't cost me a cent for upkeep
since I got It two years ago."

A new and modern office building to
house the Bonneville administration
staff will be constructed here, It was
Indicated today when R. B. Lloyd,
real estate operator, submitted low
bid on the Job to Washington, D. C.
The building and site will coat about
1100,000.

Two tchools, closed for the summer

Incendiarism Sunday, causing the
total destnictton of ono and slight
damage to the other.
Authorities said there was no con
nection between the two fires.
The more serious blaze destroyed
the Piedmont avenue elementary
school, reducing the three-story
frame building valued at $09,000 to
a pile of smoking embers.
The second school flrrt damaged
the Garfield school building slightly.
Six small boys admitted starting the
fire which broke out In five places at
once.

He was named heir of a deceased
relative at Jefferson, Iowa. Attorneys
asked Oregon authorities to try to
find Uie man. Inasmuch as he had
been traced as far as Baker. Unless
he Is found within the next few
months he will be declared legally

rural carriers at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Hargltt of Rogue River.
A number of girl scouts, accompan

Hoefs, went to McKee bridge Wednes
day where they expected to spend a
few days camping and swimming. j

home-built airplane on the Spring
field airport yesterday In attempt

pilots and planes from entering civil

charged with cruelty to animals In
a complaint filed by the Jackson
County Humane society, was taken
under advisement, following a Justice
court hearing Saturday.
It was alleged the defendant threw
hot water on doga bcongtug to Mrs.
Frank Crouchcr and Mrs. J. T.
Storm. All parties concerned reside
In the Howard school district.
The defendant admitted she threw
water on a brown dog, but denied
she had hit a spotted dog. The
trouble started when the brown dog
entered the room where the defend
ant's dog was tied. When she tried
to shoo It away, the dog showed de
fiance. She then cast a dlpperful
of hot water upon the animal. She
declared she hit only one dog. . .
