O CLUBS

Four-H groups of Oak Grove ex
tend their sincere thanks to all or
ganizations, groups and Individuals
who aided representatives of the iis
trict to attend 4-H surnmer school
at Corvallla.
Betty Lou Reich, Janet Pitts, Oar-
roll Lilly and Mnrle Logan extend
their personal thanks to the chnp
erones, Helma Conger and Naomi
Smith, who were, such a help while
we were at Corvallls, We also wish
especially to thank our worthy lead
ers who have taught us and helped
prepare us to be capable and worthy
of this honor. As many are Inter
ested In knowing what was taught
and what we had accomplished at
slimmer school, I will try to convav
to those Interested a summary of
phlnctpal events,
Monday at 8:30 a, m., we four
girls left with about 60 other 4-H
members on the two buses. At nosn
we "topped at Cnnyonvllle and en
Joyed a picnic lunch. Arriving at
Corvallls about p. m we weie
assigned houses and had supper,
which we all enjoyed after the long
ride. We Oak Orove girls roomed
at Snell hall.
Next morning, after rising at 8: JO
and having breakfast, we were di
vided Into sections according to ages.
Each section was divided Into many
groups and assigned to classes, which
lasted from 8:30 to 11:30 a. m. Each
child was provided with a notebook.
At 2 p. i'. we assembled In the men'r
gym. The 1700 members of Oregon
mad a very enthuslastlo group, Mr.
Ssymore, state leader, welcomed us
and explained rules, schedula and
motto, which Is i:If every memoir
of thla 4-H summer school Is Just

school will this summer school be'"
A signature contest was started
for sll the members on the campus
This was a good means for becoming
acquainted.
We were taught the following sub

speeches by prominent men, Includ
ing novernor Msrtln, Art Klrkland
State Orange Master Ray Gill, Mr
Peevey, Oeorge Angle, Mr. 8chcn.
field and others. Each assembly con
cluded with singing.
On Sunday, each child attended their
own church, also church services
were held on the campus.
For children who had never seen
the ocean, buses made round trips to
Newport.
In the evenlnge we were entertaln
ed June B ,t pajama parties held
la all girls' halls. June 11 and 18.
parties were given for everyone on
the campus, with dancing for those
who wished and games for the others,
Also three motion pictures were
shown.
Monday morning, after breakfatt,
we left for home. We arrived homo
late In the afternoon of June 17,
