toy.

out of their couplings and hurled
along the right of way. The ten

Veteran Engineer
Makes Last Trip
PORTLAND, July 14. (, The
Cascade Limited, premier train of
the Southern Pacific northwest
fleet, rolled into the Union station
today with John Paulsen at the
throttle for the last time.
The veteran of 88 year of rail
roading retired with today' run. To
morrow he is 70 year old. He began
work for the Southern Pacllle when
he wat 12 and for 47 years he has
been an engineer. He retires with
the No. 1 seniority rank.
