FOR CELEBRATION
United States National Bank
Chiefs to Participate in
Welcome to- Public at
Open House On Saturday
A number of executives from the
Portland head office of the United
States National bank are in Medford
for the celebration of the bank's
"Open House." Among these are Paul
Dick, president, and W. L. Davies
and W. M. Cook, vice-presidenta.
According to the executives, the
United States National has been
watching with interest the progress
of enlargement and modernisation
of itg Medford branch and have
come down to see the extensive Im
provement. According to George Prey, the
quarters of the branch were entirely
inadequate to keep pace with the
rapid growth In patronage or to
satisfactorily meet the needs of the
community.
' "We feel that Medford is the cen
ter of one of the most Important
areas In the state," said Mr. Prey,
"and we are not satisfied to go on
indefinitely in the crowded quarters
which the branch had acquired when
being established in Medford. We
considered various plans for expan
sion and finally decided that tt was
more practical to undertake the en
largement In this way than by one
of the other plans proposed. We feel
the result has been extremely satis
factory." According to the bank's officials,
various other of the banking homes
of Its branches throughout the state
are undergoing, or have undergone,
enlargement and Improvement in
keeping with the territories served.
The U. S. national Is the largest
bank in Oregon in volume of de
posits. In addition to the head of
fice in Portland it maintains four
branches in that city and other
branches at Albany, Astoria, Eugene,
Grants Pass, Junction City, Klamath
Palls, La Grande. McMinnvllle, Mt.
Angel. Ontario, Oregon City, Pendle
ton, Redmond, Roseburg, Salem, St.
Helens and The Dalles.
The present working capital of
the United States National approxi
mates 10 million dollars, while Its
resources are over 120 millions.
