day afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Stanley.
Mr. and Mra. Joe Worthing ton, for
mer residents of this place, now of
Bureka, returned homo last Tuesday
from several days visit with their son.
Jim, and daughter. Eleanor, and fam
ilies. Mr. Worthing ton's brother and
wife, who Is Mrs. Worthlngton's sis
ter, from Long Beach, Calif,, also
came with them.
Bertland Stanley Is mowing hay
this week at the Hammel ranch.
Mrs. Eva Nichols and daughter,
Margie, Mrs. M. Barr and daughter,
Betty, and Mrs O. E. Henderson left
Wednesday morning on a trip to
southern California, going by way of
Crescent City and down the coast
route to San Francisco, visiting with
friends at Vallejo and San Francisco
before going on to Los Angeles and
Long Beach, where they will visit
with relatives and friends. Mrs. Barr
and daughter will remain In Lot
Angeles.
Civic Improvement club held their
last meeting of the summer season
last Thursday afternoon, with a large
number of members present. A no
hostess lunch was served at the close
of the meeting.
Williams Creek

-Williams ladles' club met at the
community hall Wednesday of last
week to clean the hall and grounds
and to discuss plans for an toe cream
supper In the near future. Mrs. LIb-
els Blgelow and Mrs. Frank Wood of
Grants Pass were visitors. A potluck
lunch was served at noon. Next
meeting will be at the borne of Mrs.
John Mullen, June 30, when new of
fleers will be elected for the coming
year.
Annual summer Bible school opened
June 31 at the schoolhouse, with an
enrollment the first day of more
than 30.
BUI Lemmon has been enlarging
and modernizing Mrs. Flxley's kitch
en and dining room.
Stanley Knight of Tipton, Calif.,
has been spending a few days at his
ranoh here reshlngllng the barn and
making other Improvements. Miss
Constance Lemmon accompanied him.
She will spend a few weeks visiting
different southern points before re
turning home.
Our 4-H boys, Leslie and Jimmy
Corey and Lawrence York, have re
turned from summer school at Cor-
vallls. While there they took part In
a radio broadcast.
Mrs. Charles Wilson and daughter,
Mrs. Margaret Litchfield of Ataaka
daro, Calif., and Mrs. Lawrence Wil
son of Grants Pass visited at the
C. W. Roberts home Saturday after
noon. They formerly lived on Wil
liams oreek.
Friends are grieved to hear that
Nelson Warner, an old-time resident
ot Williams but now of Grants Pass,
suffered a stroke one day last week
and at last report had not regained
.consciousness.
At the annual school meeting last
week Alfred Larlmore was elected
clerk; Lester Sparlln, director.
Mrs. Norman Webb (Mil ma Lem
mon) la seriously ill at the hospital
at Grants Pass.
Jim Turvy, who Is at the veterans
hospital at Roseburg, Is reported un
able to come home yet as expected.
Mra. Pauline Wright was hostess to
the Provolt ladles club last week.
The next meeting will be with Mrs.
Vera Richardson.
Mrs. Heinz man and granddaughter,
Lorane Smith, who have been in
Oakland the last five weeks, returned
home this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Zlnn of Provolt
and small daughter returned Tuesday
from Portland, where they had been
visiting relatives. Mrs. O. G. Culbert
son, a stster-ln-law, returned with
them to spend several days.
Provolt 4-H club girls gave a pie
supper and program on the evening
of June 34, procedes to defray ex
penses to the 4-H summer camp next
month.
Mrs. Glenn Orltfeth of Huntington,
Ore., arrived at the C. R. Hill home
for a visit. Mrs. Orlffeth Is a cousin
of the Hill.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Knutzen and
two daughters of Medford spent Sun
day at the O. W. Roberts home.

Talent Orange
Talent Orange met In regular ses
sion June 34 with Master W. W.
Roblson presiding. After usual busi
ness session two candidates from
Central Point and two from Talent
were Initiated In third and fourth
degrees. Nine visitors from Central
point complimented the Talent de
cree team on their presentation of
the work.
A ahrt program was followed by
reports of Master Robinson and Mrs.
Roblson from the state Orange it
Klamath Falls, to which they were
delegates.
Refreshments were served by
Brother and sister Welgant, Brother
and Sister Everett Best wick and
Brother and Sister dish. Dancing
completed the evening.
B. E. 0. Chairman Florence Hartley
announced that an all day meeting
at the home of Sister Woltera on
Wednesday, would be enjoyed by all
members wishing to help on the
quilt. Members to bring a picnic
lunch. There will be other work fur
nished for those who cannot quilt
All wen, urged to attend.
At the next Orange meeting, July
7. a picnic dinner will be enjoyed
by the members at 7 o'clock sharp.

In the sixth city's wsr on trafflo
accidents will be Inauguration of a
"flying squad" to conduct sclentlfle
inquiries into auto crashes, hit-skip
aooldents and manslaughter cases.
The squad will be composed of three
skilled technicians now on the man
