Pomona Grange
Jackson County Pomona held
special session at the Eagle Point
Grange hall for the purpose of In
itiating Into the fifth or Pomona
degree candidates for that Grange.
Thirty-three candidates were initi
ated from Eagle Point Orange and
one from Roxy Ann Grange. One was
bal lotted on from Gold Hill Grange.
This makes a total of 139 candi
dates Initiated by Jackson County
Pomona Grange during the last six
weeks.
So successful was the Initiation
that the executive committee decided
the team would hold special session
to Initiate In any Grange hall having
ten or more members to take the de
gree. Members who have at any time
been members of this Pomona Grange
should he reinstated, not Initiated
as new members.
Subordinate Granges wishing to
take advantage of this offer should
notify tha master, Roscoo Roberts,
in advance, so arrangements may be
made.
We urgell Grangers In the coun
ty to Join In a Orange Sunday at
Ashland park, Sunday. June 30, for
picnic dinner and preaching service.
Picnic dinner will be at 13:30 or 1
p. m., so those attending may attend
their own church In the morning.
Preaching service will be In the after
noon with special singing.
Reservations have been made In
the park especially for the Grangers
on this day. Bring picnic dinner with
complete menu for your own group.
We congratulate Brother Roscoe
Roberts on the signal honor of hav
ing been elected steward of the State
Grange of Oregon. He Is a true
Granger and worthy of the position.
Since It la against Grange rules for
any member to seek an office, and
since the big majority of the voting
members are In the northern part of
the state, this Is a courtesy much
appreciated by southern Oregon
Grangers, and La the second time
southern Oregon members have been
so honored. Clarence P. Davles hav
ing also served as steward of the
State Orange several years ago. Last
year, Henry Conger of Jacksonville
was appointed on the State Grange
agricultural committee.
All remember the date for Grange
Sunday at Ashland park where reser
vations are made for all the Orangera
In the county. Pomona will furnish
coffee and sugar.

Orange council to be held In Gold
Hill Orange hall June 33. Many Im
portant matters are to come up and

A backward Jump off ft trailer to
escape possible Injury from ft spirited
horse brought death last night to
George Washington Harts, 51, ft car
penter. Harts fell on his head. A physician
blamed brain hemorrhage and pos
sible concussion for Hart's death.
The horse had been loaded Into the
trailer near Merrill for transportation
to rodeo grounds here for use In rid
ing tests by Klamath rodeo queen
contestants.
