Cinema Find Stars
In Craterian Film
A new star makes her bow to local
theatre-goers today at. the Craterian
theatre, with the opening of the Gary
Cooper picture, "Adventures of Marco
Polo."
She la SLgrld Gurie, who plays the
leading feminine role, a part that
gives her an auspicious start toward
film fame.
However, Miss Ourte did not find
motion pictures so easy to "crack."
Trying for a long time to find her
self an opening, she constantly was
rebuffed and, as the saying goes, was
getting " nowhere fast." But where
there a a will there's always some way
to find the sought after opening. In
her case, it was a change of charac
ter. She became a famous Norwegian
actress, made herself Inaccessible to
even the highest moguls of filmdom
And when that happens In Hollywood,
It's hews. So Stgrid Gurie became
news. Big news. Being of news value
meant she was immediately given op
portunities of signing contracts. Fin
ally, when she did sign, it was to
play in "Adventures of Marco Polo,"
a role coveted by many of the cinema
city's established actresses.
The ballyhoo started publicity men
outdid themselves and newspapers of
America were filled with news of the
famed Slgrld Gurie, who had finally
capitulated and signed to play In an
American picture. Then it happened;
the truth came out from Miss Gurie
herself. She was not a famous Nor
