exercises, May 38. The platfonn was
beautifully decorated with a back

Dr. Peters and family expect to
leave June 4 for Loa Angeles, where
they will attend the national Shrine
convention, and while away will al
visit Dr. Peters' son and wife, who
are teachers at Pomona college.

dren drove to Salem last Saturday

Coming here from Klamath Falls
on May 23 to attend the graduation
exercises were Mrs. Seth Waters and
Preston Card, who were visitors at
the O. O. Sanden home over Decor
ation Day. Mr. Waters Joined them
here on Saturday evening. They all
returned to the Falls Monday.
Oregon Caves olaimed several local
visitors Sunday and Monday, thoso
going on Sunday were Gall Lusk and
Bud Mitchell, and those going Mon
day were Homer and Dolores Smets,
Gage and Eunice Sanden and Fred
Metzger.
Women's Missionary society met at
the home of Mrs. Henry Nledermever
on Tuesday with a goodly number
present. After singing of a hymn,
devotions were given by Mrs. Ger
trude Martin and interesting arttclos
gleaned from "Women and Missions"

mer, Martin and Norvell, after which
the hostess served dellotoua refresh

Bight boys from explorer troop 95
of Jacksonville and some of regular
troop 38 left Tuesday for Union
Creak, where they will spend three
days receiving Instructions In for
estry by members of the forest ser
vice. These boys are Joe Beach, Har
old White, Carol Lewis, Vernon Ha-
maker, Jaok Hamilton, Tom Dunnlng
ton, Stuart Forbes and Oage Sanden.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe McKnlght and
two sons of Lozler lane were visitors
at the Ray Wilson home Tuesday,
Mr. and Mrs. William Carlon and
Robert and "Brick" Carlon of Port
land picnicked at 'the McKee bridge
with Mr. and Mrs, Win Arnold and
daughter Norma on Declratlon Day.
The Carlons returned to Portland
on Tuesday.
En route to Los Angeles, Mr. and
Mrs. Gorst of Seattle were recent
guests of Miss Alice Hoofs. Mrs, Gorst
was formerly Gaynete Kelly, who waa
raised here.
Mrs. Gertrude Hoefs, wife of the
lnte Elmer Hoefs, came over from
Klamath Falls and spent Memorial
Day here.

here from out of town were Mrs. Lulu
KUlem and daughter and son-in-law,
from Portland, who brought with
them Gertrude Opp. They all re
turned to Portland on Tuesday. Also
Mr. and Mrs. Phil Me ten em of Port

On Tuesday evening the Eastern
Star held a covered dlah supper at
their hall and during the evening
presented Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Wilson
with a handkerchief shower. Mr. and
Mrs. Wilson are leaving on a month's
trip which will take them through
California, New Mexico and eventually
around through Canada and home.

theater virtually solved the city's
"clean-up" week problem by offer
ing a free ticket to a special matinee
to every boy that brought in 10 old
tin cans. The "receipts" exceeded

cast removed from his foot where
ho had a toe broken some time ago,
broke the same leg last week by

will soon return to Portland, Alex Mo

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs.

clinic Friday morning. He was
named Darwin.
Twin boys were born to Mr. and
Mrs. William Odin Thursday night
at the Osteopathic clinic In Medford.
The boys weighed five pounds two
ounces and four pounds twelve
ounces and were named James Rus
sel and Gerald Richard.
Travel to Fish lake Increases every
week-end. There was heavy travel
on Friday, Bn turd ay, Sunday and
Monday. Hundreds of cars passed
through Butte Falls every day.
The little black gnats that were
so abundant last week are gone.

Little Betty Moon, whose arms
were broken above wrists on Wednee-,
day evening last wek, had to have
one arm reset after X-rays were
taken. On Saturday afternoon, Mrs.
Harold Patton brought Betty and
her mother home from the hospital.
It will be three weeks before new
casts will be put on and about tws
months before they expect to re-'
move casts completely.
Patsy Albern is better and Is home
again from a Medford hospital.
The seventh and eighth grades
and Ions Cdmondson and Erma
Bralnard of the sixth grade were
given a trip to Oregon caves and
from there to the coast. They
stopped at Harbor and Brookings
on Saturday, then went to Gold
Beach, where they spent Saturday
night and Sunday and Sunday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Clara Clark took them
in the school bus and all had a
grand time. One of the boys lost ;
his new oxfords when he left them
on the boach and the tide carried
them out to sea. Otherwise there :
were no misfortunes on the trip.

hour before th business meeting
was held.
Mrs. Bendure helped the secretary
with some work In her record book
that she did not understand.

Thelma Martin.
Our meeting was opened by he
president, Ernest Sanderson. The
minute were read by Ins Perl Lucas,
the roll oall waa answered by giv
ing the pledge. We finished th
meeting by giving yells and singing
songs.
We entertained our mothers on th
tewing club. Refreshments, served by
Thelma Martin, were enjoyed by all.
We had eight visitors.
