The following recreational bulletin
Vm issued today by Rogue River
national forest headquarters:
"Snow plowing Into the higher
elevations is being done on three
separate roads within the forest. A
state highway maintenance crew Is
plowing the Piamond lake highway.
The men have It open for about six
miles. Travelers are warned to keep
off the highway to prevent inter
ruption of the work.
"The Fish lake road was open last
.night to Big Elk Junction and work
on the remaining distance was being
' carried on today. The road into the
summer home area at the dam will
not be opened. Klamath county Is
doing snow plowing on the road to
Lake o' Woods from the Pelican
guard station. It is not definitely
known when the road will be open
to use.
"Pishing !a reported as fair in
the Union Creek district, with a
number of small catches being made
In the Copco dam. Bait fishing In
Elk creek 1b reported fair. Small
catches are being made In the mld-
die fork of the Rogue river. The
Rogue between Prospect and Trail Is
only partly cleai and poor for fish
ing. All the forest roads in the
Union creek area are closed by snow.
Elk creek road Is open from the
highway to Persist, 16 miles.
"Trail creek road is open to Swin
gle mill, six miles from highway.
Union Creek. Woodruff Meadows,
Natural Bridge and Farewell Bend
forest camps are open for ise. Wild
flowers and shrubs are in. full blos
som all along the highway and in
Ik and Trail creek areas. The snow
Is melting slowly In high spots on
account of cold weather. Snow depth
on the Rogue River-Umpqua divide
Is reported as 17 feet.
"The Lodgepole road, popularly
called the Snowshoe road, is open
about one and one-half miles be
'yond the Blue Rock road Junction.
The road from Butte Falls to Pros
pect, from Prospect to Imnaha and
from Imnaha to Lodgepole is open.
The road from the Butte Falls-Prospect
road to Codgepole is also open
It Is now possible to get to south
fork of Rogue river and Nichols creek
forest camps. Big Butte creek is
tin too high for good fishing.
"The north fork of Little Butte
creek has yielded good catches. South
Jork of the Rogue Is clear and in
ltlng. Fish lake Is still good. Wild
flowers around ' Bntte Falls and on
the Butte Falls-Prospect road are
abundant.
"Fishing will be poor in the
streams in the Applegate this week
end on account of high water due
to the melting snow. Several fair
catches have been made lately In
Squaw lake by using eggs and worms.
The road to Squaw lake la open
. within' miles of the lake. The
roads In the lower elevations are in
" fair condition. Beaver Creek road is
open for a distance of 13 miles and
Ashland peak road Is open approxi
mately nine miles. Deep snow drifts
block further clearance of these
roads. Many wild flowers and shrubs
are now in blossom in the higher
elevations.
"Road to Hyatt lake Is open and
In fair condition with the exception
of several bad places. Chains are
not needed."

Sierer, who relieved Johnson and

A blind bogey tournament will be
held Saturday and Sunday at the
Rogue Valley Oolf club. It was an

Washington a alight favorite, the six
colleges and universities of the
northern division. Pacific Const con
ference, open their two-day track

noon. Besides the fight for Individual

schools a glimpse of what they will

Washington' State college, which
